Nilgün Efes is the president of Ereğli Entrepreneur and Executive Business Women's Association (ERGİKAD) and a local hand-woven Elpek Cloth producer of Zonguldak. Life and career Efes was born in 1957 in Zonguldak. After completing her primary and secondary education in Zonguldak, she graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Communication. After working as a journalist, she founded her own company in 1996. In 1997, she established the Elpek Cloth weaving house in the Kandilli district of Ereğli and revived the Elpek Cloth, one of the forgotten traditions. Zonguldak
Zonguldak () is a city and the capital of Zonguldak Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It was established in 1849 as a port town for the nearby coal mines in Ereğli and the coal trade remains its main economic activity. The Turkish people, or simply the Turks ( tr, Türkler), are the world's largest Turkic ethnic group; they speak various dialects of the Turkish language and form a majority in Turkey and Northern Cyprus. In addition, centuries-old ethnic Turkish communities still live across other former territories of the Ottoman Empire. Article 66 of the Turkish Constitution defines a "Turk" as: "Anyone who is bound to the Turkish state through the bond of citizenship." Marmara University ( Turkish: ''Marmara Üniversitesi'') is a public university in Istanbul, Turkey. The university is named after the Sea of Marmara and was founded as a university in 1982. However, it was created in 1883 under the name of ''Hamidiye Ticaret Mekteb-i Âlisi'', in a house in the center of Istanbul.
