Nilandhoo Sports Club, is a Maldivian football club in Nilandhoo (Faafu Atoll), that competes in the Dhivehi Premier League, the highest tier of Maldivian football. History Nilandhoo was promoted to Dhivehi Premier League as 2018 Minivan Championship semi finalists. They were beaten in the semi-final to runner-up Foakaidhoo FC. Dhivehi Premier League is a Maldivian men's professional football league. At the top of the Maldives football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 10 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Second Division Football Tournament. Teams are playing 14 matches each (playing each team in the league twice) totalling 56 matches in the season. The competition formed as the Dhivehi Premier League succeeded the Dhivehi League. 2019–20 Dhivehi Premier League
The 2019–20 Dhivehi Premier League was the fifth season of the Dhivehi Premier League, the top-tier football league in the Maldives. The season started on 14 June 2019. TC Sports are the defending champions. Maziya secured the league title on 19 January 2020. Since New Radiant Sports Club and Victory Sports Club both teams are suspended, they are relegated to the Second Division Football Tournament. Teams A total of nine teams compete in the league. Nilandhoo (Faafu Atoll)
Nilandhoo (Dhivehi: ނިލަންދޫ) is the capital of Faafu Atoll, a region with five inhabited islands. It is the largest and most populated island in the region, and includes historical sites such as foah'mathi and Aasaari Miskiy and a school. Foah'mathi is a historical site with a Buddhist temple under it, while Aasaari Miskiy is the second mosque built in the Maldives. Archaeology Buddhist remains, including a stupa, are found on the island, indicating that it was inhabited in the past.
