Nikoloz (Lasha) Janashia ( Georgian: ნიკოლოზ (ლაშა) ჯანაშია) (November 18, 1931 in Tbilisi – September 7, 1982 in Tbilisi) was a famous Georgian historian and public benefactor, PhD in History (1962), associate professor (1966). Janashia born in Tbilisi, son of a noted Georgian historian Simon Janashia (1900–1947). In 1954, Janashia graduated from the faculty of history of the Tbilisi State University. He began as a research fellow at the Institute of History and Ethnology of the Georgian Academy of Sciences (GAS) in 1957. After he received his PhD in history in 1962, he came a senior research fellow at GAS, and from 1970 to 1982, he served as a deputy director of its Institute of Manuscripts. He was also hired as an associate professor at Tbilisi State University in 1965, a position he maintained until his death. Nikoloz Tskitishvili ( ka, ნიკოლოზ ცქიტიშვილი; born April 14, 1983) is a Georgian former professional basketball player. He is a 7'0" forward-center, who was selected fifth overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 2002 NBA draft. Tskitishvili has also played for the senior Georgian national basketball team. Nikoloz Shengelaia ( ka, ნიკოლოზ შენგელაია, russian: Николай Михайлович Шенгелая; Obudzhi, Tsalenjikha District – Tbilisi, 4 January 1943) was a Soviet Georgian film director. Nikoloz Shengelaia was one of the founders of Georgian cinema. His epic 1928 silent film “Eliso” is about the exile of Circassian and Chechen people and the colonization of their land in the Caucasus Mountains by imperial Russia. The film has a broad range of themes such as betrayal, social injustice, and resilience in the face of adversity. The film's protagonist is a passionate and brave young woman. Nikoloz (Nika) Rurua ( ka, ნიკოლოზ (ნიკა) რურუა; 17 March 1968 – 4 December 2018) was a Georgian politician, and a member of the Cabinet of Georgia in the capacity of Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, from 10 October 2008 until 25 October 2012. Rurua previously served as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Defence and Security of the Parliament of Georgia. Nikoloz Rachveli ( ka, ნიკოლოზ რაჭველი; born 15 May 1979) is a Georgian conductor, composer and cultural manager. He composes and arranges for theatre and film, using themes from Georgian and non-Georgian composers. Memanishvili is the Principal Conductor of the Georgia National Symphony Orchestra, and Head of the Georgia National Music Center. He has been leading the Mikeladze Symphony Orchestra since 2007. Nikoloz "Nika" (Nick) Janjgava ( ka, ნიკოლოზ იკაჯანჯღავა; born 23 April 1970) is a Georgian major general, military historian and currently a deputy chief of general staff of the Defense Forces of Georgia.
