Flanker (rugby Union)
Flanker is a position in the sport of rugby union. Each team of 15 players includes two flankers, who play in the Forwards (rugby union), forwards, and are generally classified as either List of rugby union terms#B, blindside or List of rugby union terms#O, openside flankers, numbers 6 and 7 respectively. The name comes from their position in a Scrum (rugby union), scrum in which they 'flank' each set of forwards. They compete for the ball – most commonly in Playing rugby union#Ruck, rucks and Playing rugby union#Maul, mauls. Flankers also assist in pushing in a scrum, but are expected to detach from the scrum as soon as the ball is out to get to the play before the opposition's forwards. The Georgia national rugby union team (Georgian: საქართველოს მორაგბეთა ეროვნული ნაკრები), nicknamed The Borjgalosnebi (''The Men of the Borjgali'' i.e. the traditional Georgian seven-armed solar symbol) or more commonly as The Lelos (from the ancient but still popular traditional Georgian folk-sport of Lelo burti, a sort of rugby played with a pumpkin-shaped ball), represents Georgia in men's international rugby union. The team is administered by the Georgian Rugby Union and takes part in the annual Rugby Europe Championship and the Rugby World Cup, which takes place every four years. The Georgia national rugby sevens team is a minor national sevens side. Georgia plays every summer in the Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series. They have occasionally qualified to play in certain legs of the World Rugby Sevens Series, but they have never been a "core team" on the Sevens Series. Georgia has participated for qualifying for the Olympics, but has never qualified to play in the Olympics. 2022 Currie Cup First Division
The 2022 Currie Cup First Division was the 84th edition of the Currie Cup. As the second-tier of the competition, it ran alongside the 2022 Currie Cup Premier Division. It was sponsored by beer brand Carling Black Label and organised by the South African Rugby Union. The tournament was played from April to June in a single round-robin format, following the realignment of the South African domestic rugby union calendar to dovetail with the northern hemisphere and the United Rugby Championship, which features four South African sides. The competition again featured ten sides, the seven sides who competed in the 2021 Currie Cup First Division, and teams from Georgia, Kenya and Zimbabwe. The top South African side in the 2022 Currie Cup First Division was promoted to the Premier Division for 2023, forming an eight team competition.
