Nikolay Gergov
Nikolay Borislavov Gergov ( bg, Николай Бориславов Гергов; born March 17, 1978, in Oryahovo, Vratsa) is an amateur Bulgarian Greco-Roman wrestler, who played for the men's welterweight category. He defeated South Korea's Kim Min-Chul for a gold medal in the 66 kg division at the 2005 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in addition to his bronze from the 2007 World Wrestling Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. He is also a two-time Olympian, a double European wrestling champion, and a member of Slavia Litex Wrestling Club in Sofia, under his personal coach Bratan Tzenov. Because of his further successes in wrestling, Gergov was selected as one of eleven athletes for the Bulgarian Sports Personality Award in 2007. Oryahovo
Oryahovo ( bg, Оряхово ) is a port city in northwestern Bulgaria, part of Vratsa Province. It is located in a hilly area on the right bank of the Danube, just east of the mouth of the river Ogosta, a few more kilometres downstream from where the Jiu flows into the Danube on Romanian territory. Levente Füredy
Levente Füredy (born January 12, 1978, in Budapest) is a retired amateur Hungarian Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed in the men's welterweight category. He became a bronze medalist in the 66-kg division at the 2003 World Wrestling Championships, which earned him a ticket to represent Hungary at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Throughout his sporting career, Furedy trained under his personal coach and mentor Ferenc Kiss for Budapesti Vasutas Sport Club in Budapest. Furedy emerged into the international scene at the 2003 World Wrestling Championships in Créteil, France, where he picked up the bronze medal in the men's welterweight category, receiving him a ticket to be selected for the Hungarian Olympic team. Armen Frunzekovych Vardanyan ( hy, Արմեն Վարդանյան, uk, Армен Фрунзікович Варданян, born 30 November 1982) is an Armenian-Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler. He is an Olympic bronze medalist, three-time World Championships silver medalist, and two-time European Champion. He has also been awarded the Honoured Master of Sports Ukraine title. Early life Vardanyan was born into a family of teachers. His mother taught Russian language and literature and his father was the director of a railway technical school. Vardanyan began wrestling in his hometown of Leninakan, Soviet Armenia (now Gyumri, Armenia). After the 1988 Armenian earthquake, he moved to Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. He graduated from Zaporozhye National Technical University and was a soldier of the State Border Service of Ukraine. As of 1999 he lives in Kiev. Sergey Vladimirovich Kovalenko (russian: Серге́й Владимирович Коваленко; born May 25, 1976, in Shakhty, Rostov Oblast) is a Russian former Greco-Roman wrestler, who played for the men's welterweight category. and currently UWW referee. Şeref Eroğlu (born 25 November 1975, in Kahramanmaraş) is a Turkish wrestler. He is the current president of the Turkish Wrestling Federation. Career He was born on November 25, 1975, in Dereköy, Kahramanmaraş. He started wrestling with karakucak and entered Sivas Pamukpınar Wrestling Training Center in 1988. Men's Greco-Roman 66 kilograms competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, was held on August 13 at the China Agricultural University Gymnasium. This Greco-Roman wrestling competition consists of a single-elimination tournament, with a repechage used to determine the winner of two bronze medals. The two finalists face off for gold and silver medals. Each wrestler who loses to one of the two finalists moves into the repechage, culminating in a pair of bronze medal matches featuring the semifinal losers each facing the remaining repechage opponent from their half of the bracket.
