Nikolaos Douvas
General Nikolaos Douvas ( el, Νικόλαος Ντούβας, born 1947) served as Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff. General Douvas was honourably discharged from the Hellenic Army on March 1, 2006. After his discharge from the army he has been appointed as president at EKO (the biggest Greek state owned oil company). Larissa (regional Unit)
Larissa ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Λάρισας) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Thessaly. Its capital is the city of Larissa. Total population 269,151 (2021). Geography Larissa is the second largest regional unit in Greece, exceeded only by Aetolia-Acarnania. It covers about one-third of Thessaly. It borders the regional units of Kozani to the northwest, Pieria to the northeast, the Aegean Sea to the east, Magnesia to the southeast, Phthiotis to the south, Karditsa to the southwest and Trikala to the west. The Hellenic Army Academy ( el, Στρατιωτική Σχολή Ευελπίδων), commonly known as the Evelpidon, is a military academy. It is the Officer cadet school of the Greek Army and the oldest third-level educational institution in Greece. It was founded in 1828 in Nafplio by Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first governor of the modern Greek state. General Dimitrios Grapsas ( el, Δημήτριος Γράψας) is a Greek military officer, who served as the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff from August 2007 to August 2009. Biography General Grapsas was born in 1948 in Ypati in the Phthiotis prefecture. He was admitted to the Hellenic Military Academy in 1967, from which he graduated in 1971 as a Second Lieutenant (Armour). Larissa (; el, Λάρισα, , ) is the capital and largest city of the Thessaly region in Greece. It is the fifth-most populous city in Greece with a population of 144,651 according to the 2011 census.
