Nikolai Petrovitch Troubetzkoy
Prince Nikolai Petrovitch Troubetzkoy (russian: Никола́й Петро́вич Трубецко́й; 1828–1900) was a Privy Counsellor and Chamberlain of the Russian Imperial Court. A relative of the Decembrist Prince Sergei Petrovich Troubetzkoy, he served as the President of the Moscow branch of the Russian Musical Society. For many years, he was a close aide of the composer Nikolai Rubinstein. In 1866, Troubetzkoy and Rubinstein created and founded the Moscow Conservatory. In 1876, Troubetzkoy retired from the Directorate due to his appointment as Vice-Governor of Kaluga. He was elected an honorary member of the Moscow branch and in that position, he was approved by the Chairman of the Russian Musical Society Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich Romanov. Prince Pyotr Vladimirovich Dolgorukov (russian: link=no, Князь Пётр Владимирович Долгоруков) (1816–1868) was a Russian historian and journalist known for his genealogical research and as a critic of the Imperial Russian government. His father was the general Vladimir Petrovich Dolgorukov. Life Dolgorukov was known for his anti-government publications. He moved to Paris in 1859 and refused to return to Russia. As a result, he was deprived by the authorities of all titles and property, and declared a permanent exile. After Dolgorukov's death, his archives were acquired by the Russian government. Prince Evgenii Nikolaevitch Troubetzkoy (russian: Евге́ний Никола́евич Трубецко́й; 5 October 1863 – 5 February 1920) was a Russian philosopher and a follower of Vladimir Solovyov. He was the son of Prince Nikolai Petrovitch Trubetskoy, co-founder of the Moscow Conservatory, and Sophia Alekseievna Lopouchina. His mother was a big influence on his religious thought. Apollinary Mikhaylovich Vasnetsov (russian: Аполлина́рий Миха́йлович Васнецо́в; August 6, 1856 – January 23, 1933) was a Russian painter and graphic artist whose elder brother was the more famous Viktor Vasnetsov. He specialized in scenes from the medieval history of Moscow. Vasnetsov did not receive a formal artistic education. He had studied under his older brother, Viktor Vasnetsov, the famous Russian painter.
