Nikki Richards
Nicholas Richards (born 1960) is a British singer-songwriter and record producer, best known as frontman of 1980s synthpop/ new wave band Boys Don't Cry. As a solo artist, Nikki Richards, aged 18, released the singles "If I Could Tell the World" and "I Wonder What You're Doing Tonight" on Ember Records in 1978.Billboard - 30 Sept. 1978 "and Ember Records has Nikki Richards and Kenny Williams" A third single "Oh Boy!" written by Brian Wade and produced by Alan Winstanley followed in 1979. Richards then moved to RCA Records for three more singles; "Tokyo Rising", "Factory Girl" and "Hot Love" in 1980. In 1983, he became known as Nick Richards, and bought the Maison Rouge Recording Studios in London, where he put together the band Boys Don't Cry, remembered for their 1986 hit, "I Wanna Be a Cowboy". Synthpop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. New Wave Music

Boys Don't Cry are a British pop/rock band known for the hit single "I Wanna Be a Cowboy", which peaked at No. 12 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1986 and charted around the world. Biography The band was formed in 1983 as the brainchild of lead vocalist/keyboardist Nick Richards, who had just purchased Maison Rouge Recording Studios in London. Ember Records was a British independent record label established by Jeffrey Kruger. 1950s to 1960s Ember Records was founded in the late 1950s, by avid jazz fan Jeffrey Kruger, owner of the Flamingo Jazz Club. At the time, the British music industry was largely dominated by four major record companies (EMI, Decca, Pye and Philips) who, thanks to the lack of a national popular music radio station, dominated the airwaves by buying slots on Radio Luxembourg. Therefore, the only way independent record labels could achieve any success was by focusing on specialist genres. Kruger realised that considerable success could be gained if, rather than focusing on one specific musical genre, he instead focused on a plethora of them. Alan Kenneth Winstanley (born 2 November 1952) is an English record producer and songwriter, active from the mid-1970s onwards. He usually works with Clive Langer. His early career during the mid-1970s was as an audio engineer, working on albums by The Stranglers in addition to releases by Joe Jackson and Generation X. "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" is a single by British pop-rock group Boys Don't Cry. The song was written by four of the band members— Brian Chatton, Nick Richards, Nico Ramsden and Jeff Seopardi—and was released in July 1985 as the first new single from their self-titled debut album (an album consisting of part new material and part compilation of several of the band's earlier singles).
