Nikitas Kaklamanis
Nikitas M. Kaklamanis ( el, Νικήτας Κακλαμάνης; born 1 April 1946 in Andros) is a Greek New Democracy (ND) politician and former mayor of Athens. He is also a former Minister for Health and Social Solidarity. In the Greek local elections of 2010 he lost the position of mayor after being defeated by Giorgos Kaminis. Medical career Kaklamanis was born in Andros. Kaklamanis studied medicine at the Medical School of the University of Athens. His medical training was spent in Ioannina. From 1975 to 1981, he worked at the Aretaieio Hospital in Athens, first as an assistant and then as a registrar. Dimitris Avramopoulos
Dimitris Avramopoulos ( el, Δημήτρης Αβραμόπουλος) is a Greek politician of the conservative New Democracy party, and former career diplomat. He has served in various high-level cabinet posts, including Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for National Defence, and was Mayor of Athens in 1995–2002. He served as EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship in the Juncker Commission between 2014 and 2019. Personal life Avramopoulos was born in Athens in 1953, into a family which had originally come from Ilia and Elliniko in Arcadia. He served his 26 months military service from 1978 to 1980 in the Hellenic Air Force. He is married to Vivian, with whom he has two sons, Filippos and Iasonas. New Democracy (Greece) Politicians
New Democracy, or the New Democratic Revolution, is a concept based on Mao Zedong's Bloc of Four Social Classes theory in post-revolutionary China which argued originally that democracy in China would take a path that was decisively distinct from that in any other country. He also said every colonial or semi-colonial country would have its own unique path to democracy, given that particular country's own social and material conditions. Mao labeled representative democracy in the Western nations as Old Democracy, characterizing parliamentarianism as just an instrument to promote the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie/ land-owning class through manufacturing consent.
