Nihar Ameen
Nihar Ameen is the pre-eminent Indian swimming coach, winner of Dronacharya Award 2015, and is associated with the Dolphin Academy in Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence, Bangalore. Among his trainees are the first Indian athletes to qualify for the Olympics, Shikha Tandon at Athens, 2004 and Virdhawal Khade and Sandeep Sejwal for Beijing, 2008. He has also coached Meghana Narayan. In 1989-1992, Ameen was assistant national team coach in the USA with Team Director and Olympic Coach, Jack Nelson. Nihar Mukherjee (1920–2010) was an Indian politician who served as General Secretary of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) (SUCI (C)). ''The Hindu'' He was a founding member of the party in 1948 and became the General Secretary after the death of Shibdas Ghosh in 1976. He was also the Editor-in-Chief of the '' Proletarian Era'', the official newspaper of the organization. During Mukherjee's early political career, he was a leader of the Anushilan Samiti. Nihar Ranjan Gupta ( bn, নীহাররঞ্জন গুপ্ত, pen name: ''Banbhatta'' (বানভট্ট); 6 June 1911 – 20 February 1986) was an Indian dermatologist and a popular Bengali novelist. He is the creator of the fictional detective character Kiriti Roy. Some of his writings were made into films of Bengal and Bollywood. Early life Gupta came from a Kabiraj family of Itna village under Lohagara police station, in the district of Jessore, presently in the Narail district of Bangladesh. He was born to Satya Ranjan Gupta and Labangalata Devi on 6 June 1911, in Narail district where his father used to work. He spent his childhood in Narail Due to his father's transferable job, he had to attend several schools, including Gaibandha High School. In 1930 he passed Matriculation from Konnagar High School.
