Nightcap (garment)
A nightcap is a cloth cap worn with other nightwear such as pajamas, a onesie, a nightshirt or a nightgown, historically worn in the cold climates of Northern Europe. Nightcaps are somewhat similar to knit caps worn for warmth outdoors. Design Women's night caps were usually a long piece of cloth wrapped around the head, or a triangular cloth tied under the chin. Men's nightcaps were traditionally pointed hats with a long top, sometimes with a pom-pom on the end. The long end could be used like a scarf to keep the back of the neck warm. History From the Middle Ages to the 20th century, nightcaps were worn in Northern Europe, such as the British Isles and Scandinavia, especially during the cold winters before central heating became available. Nightcap National Park
The Nightcap National Park is a national park situated within the Nightcap Range in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia. The park was created in April 1983 and is situated north of . The national park is classed by the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas as Category II and is part of the Shield Volcano Group of the World Heritage Site Gondwana Rainforests of Australia inscribed in 1986 and added to the Australian National Heritage List in 2007. Regional geology and climate The park is on the south-eastern edge of the Mount Warning erosion caldera. Creating features of gullies, ridges and a massif of peaks that form the eroded remnants of the Tweed shield volcano. The Nightcap Range Important Bird Area is a 157 km2 fragmented tract of land containing several protected areas of rainforest in the Nightcap Range of north-eastern New South Wales, Australia. Some 61% of the site is included in the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. Description The site consists of the Nightcap, Mount Jerusalem and Goonengerry National Parks, Snows Gully Nature Reserve and the Whian Whian State Conservation Area. The altitude ranges from 250–933 m above sea level. Where the soils have a rhyolitic base the vegetation is warm temperate rainforest, while areas of nutrient-rich basaltic soils support subtropical rainforest. The annual average rainfall, of 2351 mm at an altitude of 380 m, is the highest of any region in NSW, with average winter temperatures of 7-17 °C and summer temperatures of 17-27 °C. Nightcaps is a town in the Southland region of New Zealand's South Island. It is suggested that Nightcaps got its name either from the snow that is often seen on the Takitimu Mountains, or when early settlers observed fog on the hills known as the Nobbles. passes through Nightcaps as it runs between Ohai and Winton. ''The NightCap'' was an Australian television talk show broadcast on 7HD. It was the first Australian television program to be produced exclusively for an HDTV multichannel. The show began broadcasting on 12 February 2008 and screened every Tuesday and Thursday night at 10.30pm. It was cancelled after the Easter 2008 television non-ratings period. Herb Jepko (March 20, 1931 - March 31, 1995) was an influential radio talk show host in Salt Lake City from 1964 to 1990. He was the first radio talk show host to do a nationally syndicated, satellite-delivered program. Early years According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, Herb Jepko was born in Hayden, Colorado to a single mother named Mary Irene Parke. He was originally named William, but when he was adopted by Metro and Nellie Jepko of Prescott, Arizona, they renamed him Herbert Earl Jepko. Metro and Nellie's marriage was not a happy one. After they divorced, Metro got custody, but he was a wounded World War I veteran, and he soon took ill. With his father unable to care for him, Herb had to spend time in foster care off and on. Nightcaps are an American lounge band from Seattle, Washington. The band was most active from 1995 through 2000, but they continue to play occasionally in the Pacific Northwest. Nightcaps were an integral part of the mid-1990s lounge music resurgence that included bands such as Combustible Edison, Squirrel Nut Zippers and Love Jones. The Nightcaps were known as one of the few renascent lounge bands to avoid irony and kitsch. The Nightcaps were an American rock and roll band formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1958 and were active, in varying lineups, until 2009. They became one of the most popular bands in Dallas and scored regional hits in the early 1960s with "Wine, Wine, Wine" and "Thunderbird", which was later recorded by ZZ Top. The songs gained the group notoriety outside of their own region, and during the 1960s they toured in other parts of the country, particularly around the South. The group was a forerunner for many of the Dallas garage bands of the era and their raunchy, blues-based sound influenced artists such as Jimmie Vaughan and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
