''Night Vision'' is the fourth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn released domestically on True North Records. The album earned Cockburn's first Canadian gold record award in 1979. It was the first full album that Cockburn recorded with a band. Bruce Douglas Cockburn ( ; born May 27, 1945) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist. His song styles range from folk to jazz-influenced rock and his lyrics cover a broad range of topics including human rights, environmental issues, politics, and Christianity. Cockburn has written more than 350 songs on 34 albums over a career spanning 50 years, of which 22 have received a Canadian gold or platinum certification as of 2018, and he has sold over one million albums in Canada alone. In 2014, Cockburn released his memoirs, '' Rumours of Glory''. In 2016, his album ''Christmas'' was certified 6 times platinum in Canada for sales of over 600,000. True North Records
True North Records is a Canadian independent record label. History True North Records was founded in Mississauga, Ontario in 1969 by Bernie Finkelstein. By 1971, True North was producing albums for various Canadian musicians, including Bruce Cockburn and Murray McLauchlan, which were then distributed by Columbia Records in Canada. The company also arranged US distribution for some of its artists. In December 2007, the company was acquired by an investment group led by Linus Entertainment with Finkelstein remaining as Chairman. Eugene Martynec
Eugene "Gene" Martynec (born 28 March 1947) is a Canadian musician, composer and record producer. Career Martynec first came to prominence as a guitarist in Toronto group Bobby Kris & The Imperials in August 1965. He left the group in May 1967 to form Kensington Market with singer/songwriter Keith McKie, bass player Alex Darou, and drummer Jimmy Watson. He played acoustic guitar, bass and synthesizer on Lou Reed's 1973 album ''Berlin'', along with providing the vocal arrangement on "The Bed". As a record producer, he won the Juno Award for Producer of the Year in 1981 for his work on Bruce Cockburn's "Tokyo" and Rough Trade's " High School Confidential". His work with Edward Bear for "Last Song" was also recognized with a Juno in 1973. ''Sunwheel Dance'' is the third studio album by Bruce Cockburn, released in 1972. It was remastered and released by Rounder Records in 2005 with two bonus tracks. For the most part, Cockburn's lyrics here continue to be primarily introspective and spiritual, bolstered by sparse acoustic arrangements. However, Cockburn does make his first foray into political commentary on the anti-war diatribe "Going Down Slow," which also marks the artist's first utilization of a full band on record. The album has sold steadily through the years, receiving a Canadian gold record award in 1988. Reception AllMusic music critic James Chrispell, wrote retrospectively "Cockburn has begun to show that he couldn't be categorized, and while that made listening to his music so enjoyable, he had a hard time at the retail level. ''Salt, Sun and Time'' is the fifth full-length album by Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist Bruce Cockburn; released in late 1974 on True North Records. The album was recorded in Toronto, Ontario at Thunder Sound studio between May and August 1974; except the songs "Salt, Sun and Time" and "Rouler Sa Bosse" which were mixed at Manta Sound with Leo DeCarlo. Alex Colville
David Alexander Colville, LL. D. (24 August 1920 – 16 July 2013) was a painter and printmaker who continues to achieve both popular and critical success. Early life and war artist Born in 1920 in Toronto, Ontario, Colville moved with his family at age seven to St. Catharines, and then to Amherst, Nova Scotia, in 1929. He attended Mount Allison University from 1938 to 1942, where he studied under Canadian Post-Impressionism, Post-Impressionists like Stanley Royle and Sarah Hart, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Colville married Rhoda Wright, who he had been friends with since his freshman year at "Mount A," in 1942 and enlisted in the Canadian Army shortly afterwards.
