Sleeping Car
The sleeping car or sleeper (often ) is a railway passenger car (rail), passenger car that can accommodate all passengers in beds of one kind or another, for the purpose of sleeping. George Pullman was the American innovator of the sleeper car. The first such cars saw sporadic use on American and English railways in the 1830s; they could be configured for Coach (rail), coach seating during the day. History Possibly the earliest example of a sleeping car (or ''bed carriage'', as it was then called) was on the London & Birmingham and Grand Junction Railways between London and Lancashire, England. The bed carriage was first made available to first-class passengers in 1838. Night Train (Visage Song)
"Night Train" is the sixth single by the British pop group Visage, released by Polydor Records in June 1982. Background The song was the second single from the band's album '' The Anvil''. It was remixed for the single release with the assistance of John Luongo, and also available as a limited edition picture disc. The B-side of the single is a non-album track, "I'm Still Searching". This song was not available on any digital format until 2008 when a re-issue of ''The Anvil'' was released by Cherry Red Records. "Night Train" and "Whispers" (another track from ''The Anvil''), were used in Japanese adverts for TDK tapes in 1982. "Night Train" peaked at number 12 in the UK and was the band's final UK Top 40 hit until a remix of their first hit " Fade to Grey" was released in 1993. ''Night Train'' (1997) is a comedic parody of American detective novels- by the author Martin Amis, named after the song " Night Train", which features twice in the novel. Plot summary This book is told from the perspective of Detective Mike Hoolihan, a female detective who is charged with the task of finding the motivation for Jennifer Rockwell's suicide (she shot herself in the head three times, supposedly). Jennifer, a beautiful astrophysicist with a seemingly perfect life seems to have had no reason to kill herself. Thematically, the book touches on cosmology and chaos theory, and their relation to the human condition as a possible motive for suicide. Operation Night Train was part of a series of chemical and biological warfare tests overseen by the Deseret Test Center as part of Project 112. The test was conducted near Fort Greely, Alaska from November 1963 to January 1964. The primary purpose of Night Train was to study the penetration of an arctic inversion by a biological aerosol cloud. ''Arc of a Diver'' is the second solo studio album by singer/multi-instrumentalist Steve Winwood. Released in 1980, Winwood played all of the instruments on the album.
