Night Of NASCAR Stars
"Night of NASCAR Stars" is a television special that was taped at Macon Speedway in 2007, and aired on Speed TV. It was held again on June 12, 2008, and was aired on Speed TV later in 2008. Background The "Night of NASCAR Stars" was conceived as a promotional gimmick to get more racing fans to attend the races at Macon Speedway, in Macon, Illinois. Track co-owners Tony Stewart, Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader invited fellow NASCAR drivers to their track for a special race of NASCAR drivers who would be racing borrowed UMP Modifieds. Many of which were re-skinned or wrapped to mimic the NASCAR driver's NASCAR race cars. The UMP Sportsman and UMP Street Stocks were also included in the night's racing action. Macon Speedway
Macon Speedway, located in Macon, Illinois is one of Illinois's premier dirt ovals. It is also one of the longest continuously-operating racetracks in the state. History Macon Speedway was built in 1946 by Wayne Webb on the site of a brick factory on Macon's West side. It has been in continuous operation since its inception. The facilities have undergone many changes over the years, but the track's size has remained the same since it was first constructed. The track's length has been stated as both 1/4 (.25) mile and 1/5 (.20) mile at different times. It has been touted as "The World's fastest 1/5 mile dirt track" for many years. Casey James Mears (born March 12, 1978) is an American professional off-road and stock car racing driver. He has raced in IndyCar, NASCAR's three national series including 15 seasons in the Cup Series, SCORE International, and the Stadium Super Trucks. A former winner of the Coca-Cola 600, Mears is the nephew of four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Rick Mears and the son of IndyCar and off-road veteran Roger Mears. Bill Davis Racing was a racing team that participated in all three of NASCAR's top divisions until 2009. The team had run Toyota-branded stock cars and trucks in the Camping World Truck Series ( Toyota Tundra) since 2004 and Sprint Cup Series (Toyota Camry) since 2007. David Louis Blaney (born October 24, 1962) is a semi-retired American professional stock car racing driver. Blaney was a successful sprint car driver before he started racing in NASCAR, competing in both the Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series. Steve Wallace (racing Driver)
Stephen Wallace (born August 18, 1987) is an American stock car racing driver. A current super late model racer, he is the son of 1989 Winston Cup champion Rusty Wallace, the nephew of NASCAR drivers Kenny and Mike Wallace, and cousin of Chrissy Wallace. Steve has made starts in all three of NASCAR's national series as well as the ARCA Racing Series, and won the Snowball Derby in 2004.
