Nigeria Women's National Volleyball Team
The Nigeria women's national volleyball team represents Nigeria in international women's volleyball competitions and friendly matches. Nigeria lastly qualified for the 2021 Women's African Nations Volleyball Championship where the team reached the semifinals. Beach volleyball Nigeria also features a women's national beach volleyball team. At the beginning of 2019 the team was in Yaoundé in Cameroon where Francisca Ikhiede and Tochukwu Nnourge won the gold medal at the Camtel International Beach Volleyball Championship. They won the final match despite the cheers of the crowd as their opposition was the Cameroon team. The Nigerian team were runners up when Kenya qualified for the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics. Only four African countries have sent teams to the Olympics. The Nigerian national team lost at the African Continental Cup Finals in Morocco in 2021. Yvonne Wavinga (born 1996) is a Kenyan volleyball player who plays for ''Kenya Prisons''. She has played for Kenya's U23's and helped qualify Kenya women's national volleyball team for the beach volleyball tournament at the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, having never participated previously. Life Wavinya was born in 1996 in Makueni. She was in Kenya's national under 23 team in 2017 where she helped them win despite having an injured finger. Wavinga was in the team that gained Kenya qualification for the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics with Brackcides Agala, Phosca Kasisi and Gaudencia Makokha They qualified when they won at the African Continental Cup Finals in Morocco in 2021. Amarachi Uchechukwu (born 2 February 2001) is a Nigerian volleyball player who plays in the Nigeria Customs team and the Nigeria women's national volleyball team. Gaudencia Makokha
Gaudencia Makokha (born 15 November 1992) is a Kenyan female volleyball player. She was part of the Kenya women's national volleyball team playing beach volleyball at the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics. Life She was born in 1992 and her birthplace and residence is Nairobi. In 2017 she and her then volleyball partner, Naomi Too, reached the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Vienna, earning $3,400 in prize money. She was in Morocco where she played at the African Beach Volleyball Olympic Games qualifiers in June 21–28. Too was injured and she could not make the first Olympic trial. Kenya's beach volleyball coach Sammy Mulinge invited Too to the Olympic training although he was concerned by her injury. Brackcides Agala
Brackcides Agala Khadambi (born 14 May 1984) is a Kenyan female volleyball player. She was captain of the Kenya women's national volleyball team and she competed in beach volleyball at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Life She was born in 1984. She has been given the nickname of "Blackie". In 2007 she became better known after Japanese coach Sadatoshi Sugawara discovered her. Sugawara had seen her training and he was surprised to find that she was not in the provisional national squad for the World Cup. Sigawara had her training with the national squad the next day and she joined the surprised team to play at the 2007 FIVB World Cup in Japan. After the competition she was invited to stay in Japan where she gained three months of training with the Hitachi team. Albertina Francis (born 15 July 1995) is a Nigerian volleyball player who plays in the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps Team and the Nigeria women's national volleyball team. Achievements Albertina plays in Beach volleyball "b" team for the Nigeria women's national volleyball team. She won back to back National Volleyball Premier League titles with Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps Team in 2019 and 2021. Nwankwo Tochukwu (born 27 April 1986 in Port Harcourt) is a Nigerian football player currently with the Ventura County Fusion. Career Tochukwu Nwankwo is a creative midfielder who grew up in Jos, Nigeria. She is in the Kenya women's national volleyball team as captain of the beach volleyball team at the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball.
