Nigel Sheinwald
Sir Nigel Elton Sheinwald (born 26 June 1953) is a former senior British diplomat, who served as Ambassador to the United States of America between October 2007 and January 2012. He was appointed " Special Envoy on intelligence and law enforcement data sharing" in September 2014. He is also a Senior Advisor to political consultancy Rasmussen Global. Education Sheinwald was born in London, England, and educated at Harrow County School for Boys and Balliol College, Oxford. Career Sheinwald worked in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on the Japan desk from 1976-77 and on the Zimbabwe desk from 1979-81. He served in Moscow from 1978-79 and was Head of the Foreign Office Anglo-Soviet Section from 1981-83. From 1983-87, he worked in the political section of the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. Ali Ardeshir Larijani ( fa, علی لاریجانی, ; born 3 June 1957) is an Iranian conservative politician, philosopher and former military officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who served as the Speaker of the Parliament of Iran from 2008 to 2020. He is currently member of the Expediency Discernment Council. 2007 Iranian Seizure Of Royal Navy Personnel
On 23 March 2007, fifteen Royal Navy personnel from were searching a merchant vessel when they were surrounded by the Navy of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and detained off the Iran–Iraq coast. In the course of events, British forces claimed that the vessel was in Iraqi waters, but the Iranians insisted that they were in Iran's territorial waters. The fifteen personnel were released thirteen days later on 4 April 2007. A year later, a British investigation report was released which stated that the area in which the incident took place was not covered by any formal agreement between Iran and Iraq. The Policy Planning Staff (sometimes referred to as the Policy Planning Council, the Office of Policy Planning or by its in-house acronym S/P) is the principal strategic arm of the United States Department of State. It was created in 1947 by renowned Foreign Service Officer George F. Kennan at the request of Secretary of State George Marshall to serve "as a source of independent policy analysis and advice for the Secretary of State." Its first assignment was to design the Marshall Plan. Early directors include George F. Kennan and Paul Nitze. More recently came Anne-Marie Slaughter, Jake Sullivan, Dennis Ross, Gregory B.
