Nigel Napier-Andrews
Nigel Napier-Andrews (born 1942) is a British/Canadian TV producer, director, and author. In 2014 he became the host of the TV series ''Escapes with Nigel''. Early life Nigel Napier-Andrews was born in England, and spent parts of his childhood in Wimbledon, Cairo, Egypt and Benghazi, Libya. He attended Oundle School and then travelled to Kenya in 1959 to work at the Kenya Weekly News. Wimbledon () is a district and town of Southwest London, England, southwest of the centre of London at Charing Cross; it is the main commercial centre of the London Borough of Merton. Oundle School is a public school (English independent day and boarding school) for pupils 11–18 situated in the market town of Oundle in Northamptonshire, England. The school has been governed by the Worshipful Company of Grocers of the City of London since its foundation by Sir William Laxton in 1556. Elwood Glover's Luncheon Date
''Elwood Glover's Luncheon Date'' was a Canadian television talk show series which aired on CBC Television from 1963 to 1975. Elwood Glover had hosted noon-time programming on CBC Radio from 1956. A new studio was set up at the Four Seasons Hotel, near the CBC broadcast headquarters on Jarvis Street in Toronto. The following year, ''Luncheon Date'' made its CBC television debut while the audio portion was simultaneously broadcast on CBC Radio. ''Luncheon Date'' featured Leon Mangoff as announcer and sidekick. Glover announced in February 1975 that he would leave the programme, after conducting more than 10 000 interviews. Glover had worked for the CBC a total of 37 years at that point, but wanted to continue with the CBC in a less intensive role. Glover left the CBC on 1 June 1975 for a weekend host job at CKEY radio (the station today is dispersed as CHKT and CJCL). This Is The Law
''This Is the Law'' was a Canadian panel game show which aired on CBC Television from 1971 to 1976. It presented short, humorous vignettes supposedly set in various towns and cities across Canada which ran with musical accompaniment rather than a soundtrack, and challenged panelists to guess which (obscure) law of that particular region was being broken by the "Lawbreaker" character (portrayed by Paul Soles), who always got arrested at the end of the vignette ( Robert Warner starred as the police officer). The vignettes were quite subtle, and more often than not, despite many guesses, the panelists were unable to come up with the law that was actually being broken, as the laws featured were generally archaic - though, at the time of production, still on the books in the featured communities. ''Beyond Reason'' was a television quiz show seen throughout Canada from 1977 to 1980. Programmes featured a group of experts from various paranormal specialties attempting to find the identity of hidden visitors, resembling a combination of ''Front Page Challenge'', '' What's My Line?'' and ''The Amazing World of Kreskin''. This CBC Television series was recorded in Winnipeg. Its first season of 13 episodes began airing on 27 June 1977. Premise In each half-hour episode, there are two rounds, each with a hidden guest. Pierre Francis de Marigny Berton, CC, O.Ont. (July 12, 1920 – November 30, 2004) was a Canadian writer, journalist and broadcaster. Berton wrote 50 best-selling books, mainly about Canadiana, Canadian history and popular culture. He also wrote critiques of mainstream religion, anthologies, children's books and historical works for youth.
