Ibusuki, Kagoshima
is a city located in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, founded on April 1, 1954. In March 1, 2012, the city had an estimated population of 43,931, with 19,119 households and a population density of 294.82 persons per km2. However the census of 2020 confirmed a population decline to 39,011 and by October 2022 there were only 17,537 households . The total area is and shares a border with Ei, a town to its north. Ibusuki Makurazaki Line
The is a railway line in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, operated by the Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu). It connects Kagoshima-Chūō Station in Kagoshima, to Makurazaki Station in Makurazaki, paralleling the eastern and southern coasts of Satsuma Peninsula. Excluding the Okinawa Urban Monorail in Okinawa, this is the southernmost JR railway line in Japan, with Nishi-Ōyama Station being the southernmost station overall. Services Most local and rapid services are driver-only operated; only some trains in the morning are staffed by a conductor. Chiringashima
is an island in Ibusuki, Kagoshima, Japan. Geography Chiringashima is the biggest island in Kagoshima Bay. It is uninhabited and lies about 800m off Tarahama. Its circumference is about 3 km and the area is about 60 ha, with a highest point of about 90m. There is a small island which is about 0.2ha that lies about 320m north of Chiringashima called Kojima or Chirinkojima. Chiringashima is a part of the somma of Ibusuki caldera. From March to October, at low tide, a white sandbar about 800m long appears, enabling people to walk to the island in about 20 minutes. The longest time it appears is for four hours. According to statistics of the city, for 190 days in a year it appears more than an hour, and for 86 days in a year more than two hours.
