Niels Johannesen Loftesnæs
Niels Johannesen Loftesnæs (1 March 1789 – 31 May 1848) was a Norwegian farmer and soldier. He served as a representative at the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly. Niels Johannesen Loftesnæs was born on the Loftesnes farm at Sogndal in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. He was the oldest of seven siblings. In 1818, he moved to the Stenehjem farm in Sogndal parish where he spent the remainder of his life. He was married during 1814 to Berthe Olsdatter with whom he had eight children. In 1814, Loftesnæs was in the military serving with the Musketeers in Sogndal Company (''sogndalske kompani'') division of the Bergenhus Infantry Regiment. The Norwegian Constituent Assembly (in Norwegian ''Grunnlovsforsamlingen'', also known as ''Riksforsamlingen'') is the name given to the 1814 constitutional assembly at Eidsvoll in Norway, that adopted the Norwegian Constitution and formalised the dissolution of the union with Denmark. In Norway, it is often just referred to as ''Eidsvollsforsamlingen'', which means ''The Assembly of Eidsvoll''. The Assembly The election started in February 1814 in Christiania (now Oslo) in order to draft the Norwegian Constitution. Sogndal
Sogndal is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located on the northern shore of the Sognefjorden in the traditional district of Sogn. The village of Hermansverk is the administrative center of Sogndal municipality. Other villages include Kaupanger, Kjørnes, Fimreite, Nornes, and Fjærland. Sogn Og Fjordane
Sogn og Fjordane (; English: "Sogn and Fjordane") was, up to 1 January 2020, a county in western Norway, when it was merged to become part of Vestland county. Bordering previous counties Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, Buskerud, and Hordaland, the county administration was in the village of Hermansverk in Leikanger municipality. The largest town in the county was Førde. Although Sogn og Fjordane has some industry, predominantly hydroelectricity and aluminium, it is predominantly an agricultural area. Bergenhus Regiment
The Bergenhus Regiment was a Norwegian Army infantry regiment located in the counties of Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane. It was first formed in 1628 and finally disbanded in 2002. In 2006 it was decided that as the Norwegian Home Guard has taken over both the territorial responsibility and recruitment area of the old regiments they are recognised as their successors. Thus battle honours and history has been transferred to them and new banners based on the old regimental colours were created to reflect that. The history of Bergenhus Regiment is carried on by Bergenhus Heimevernsdistrikt 09 and Møre og Fjordane Heimevernsdistrikt 11. Ole Elias Holck
Ole Elias Holck (6 January 1774 – 14 July 1842) was a Norwegian military officer who served as a representative at the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly. Ole Elias Holck was born at the village of Hyllestad in Gulen in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. He was the third of 14 children born to a military family. He was married in 1812 with Karen Sophie Hansen (1786-1873). The couple took over her parents' farm in Lavik, where they raised their family. He was made a Second Lieutenant in the Sogndal Company in 1797 and promoted to First Lieutenant in the Nordhordland Company during 1801. He advanced to company commander in Bergen Regiment in 1809. In 1818, he became chief of Søndfjordske Musketeer Corps. He was promoted to Colonel in 1828 and Adjutant General in 1834. He received discharged from military service in 1841.
