Niels Fjord
Niels Johannes Fjord (27 April 1825 – 4 January 1891), often referred to as N. J. Fjord, was a Danish Professor at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University. He was a pioneer in dairy and milk research in the mid-1800s. He was a driving force and the first leader of the Landøkonomisk Forsøgslaboratorium on Rolighedsvej in 1883. Education Born into an agrarian family, he graduated from Lyngby college at the age of 18 years. His desire to join the military was futile as his father was against it. Eventually, he moved to Aarhus for his education, and happened to meet PP Freuchen and Edward Tesdorpf whose lives influenced him to take up higher education. Freuchen, then the principal, instilled an interest in natural sciences to Niels and later, he went on to take up a teaching position in physics and mathematics. Holmsland
Until January 1, 2007 Holmsland was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Ringkjøbing County on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 95 km2 on a narrow strip of land, Holmsland Dunes (''Holmsland Klit''), which is connected to the mainland on the north and south, and bounded on the east by Ringkøbing Fjord and on the west by the North Sea. It had a total population of 5,285 (2005). Its last mayor was Ivar Enevoldsen. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Hvide Sande ("White Sands"). Frederiksberg
Frederiksberg () is a part of the Capital Region of Denmark. It is formally an independent municipality, Frederiksberg Municipality, separate from Copenhagen Municipality, but both are a part of the City of Copenhagen. It occupies an area of less than 9 km2 and had a population of 103,192 in 2015. Frederiksberg is an enclave surrounded by Copenhagen Municipality. Some sources ambiguously refer to Frederiksberg as a quarter or neighbourhood of Copenhagen, being one of the four municipalities that constitute the City of Copenhagen (the other three being Copenhagen, Tårnby and Dragør). Order Of The Dannebrog
The Order of the Dannebrog ( da, Dannebrogordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Until 1808, membership in the order was limited to fifty members of noble or royal rank, who formed a single class known as ''White Knights'' to distinguish them from the ''Blue Knights'' who were members of the Order of the Elephant. In 1808, the Order was reformed and divided into four classes. The ''Grand Commander'' class is reserved to persons of princely origin. It is awarded only to royalty with close family ties with the Danish Royal House. The statute of the Order was amended in 1951 by a Royal Ordinance so that both men and women could be members of the Order. The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University ( da, Kongelige Veterinær- og Landbohøjskole, abbr. KVL) was a veterinary and agricultural science university in Denmark. Rolighedsvej is a street in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Falkoner Allé in the northwest to Bülowsvej in the southeast, linking Godthåbsvej with Rosenørns Allé. Aksel Hansen
Aksel Christian Henrik Hansen (2 September 1853 – 3 May 1933) was a Danish sculptor, one of the most productive of his times. Biography The son of a stonemason, Hansen was born in Odense, Denmark. After an apprenticeship with his father, he studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1876-1879). He exhibited at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition from 1880. He received the Hielmstierne-Rosencrone and the Ancker scholarships in 1888. He conducted study trips to Italy 1888-89 and to Greece 1904. While following the classical tradition of Herman Wilhelm Bissen, he was also influenced by French Naturalism and the Art Nouveau style. This emerging trend can be seen in his masterpiece, ''Echo'' (1888), in Copenhagen's Rosenborg Castle Gardens, as well as in Gustav Lotze's tomb with its slender female figures in Odense's Assistens Cemetery. Foulum
Foulum is a small Danish village with around 100 households (the settlement Formyre also included) in the Tjele parish located in Central Jutland eight kilometres east of Viborg. Foulum is a part of Region Midtjylland and a part of the Viborg municipality.
