Niel Steenbergen
Daniël Cornelis "Niel" Steenbergen (Steenbergen, 18 April 1911 – Oosterhout, 8 March 1997) was a Dutch artist, especially known as sculptor, painter and medalist. Steenbergen studied at the School of Applied Arts in Tilburg (1929–1932), the Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp (1932–1934) and the National Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam (1935–1938). He was active as a sculptor, medalist, designer and goldsmith. He succeeded his teacher Gerard Bourgonjon at the Academy in Tilburg. His works include war memorials, free images, altars, pulpits, fonts and pontificalia. In 1945 he founded the Free Academy of Visual Art in Breda, together with the Dutch artists Dio Rovers and Gerrit de Morée. Steenbergen
Steenbergen () is a municipality and a town in the province of North Brabant in the south of the Netherlands. The municipality had a population of in and covers an area of of which is water. The municipality is mainly agricultural including a strongly growing greenhouse sector, but Steenbergen and the nearby town of Dinteloord also contain some light industry. A new stretch of A4 motorway under construction is expected to further increase the municipality's attractiveness, allowing easy connections with the large cities of Rotterdam to the north and the Belgian city of Antwerp to the south. North Brabant
North Brabant ( nl, Noord-Brabant ; Brabantian: ; ), also unofficially called Brabant, is a province in the south of the Netherlands. It borders the provinces of South Holland and Gelderland to the north, Limburg to the east, Zeeland to the west, and the Flemish provinces of Antwerp and Limburg to the south. Prix De Rome (Netherlands) Winners
Prix was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975 by Tommy Hoehn and Jon Tiven. The group ended up primarily as a studio project. Its recordings were produced by Tiven along with former Big Star member Chris Bell, who also played guitar and sang backup vocals. Prix is also famous of Banjo playing. Alex Chilton also participated in the recordings, along with session drummer Hilly Michaels. Although the group generated some major record label interest—notably from Mercury Records and Columbia/CBS Records—it ultimately only released a double A-side single on Ork Records in 1977 and a single on Miracle Records in 1978. Its only live performance came at a CBS Records showcase in 1976. In 1977, just as Ork Records released the first single and booked the group at CBGB, Prix broke up due both to Hoehn's unwillingness to remain in New York and to creative differences.
