Nicolet—Yamaska was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1935 to 1968. History This riding was created in 1933 from Nicolet and Yamaska ridings. It was defined initially to consist of: * the county of Nicolet except such part thereof as is included in the municipalities of Lemieux Ste-Cécile-de-Lévrard, St-Joseph-de-Blandford, Ste-Marie-de-Blandford, St-Pierre-les-Becquets, Ste-Sophie-de-Lévrard and the village of Manseau; * the county of Yamaska except that part of the parish and the village of St-Michel lying west of the river Yamaska. Nicolet was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1935. It was created by the ''British North America Act'', 1867 which preserved existing electoral districts in Lower Canada. It consisted of the County of Nicolet. From 1903 to 1924, it included the parishes of Ste. Brigitte, Ste. Eulalie, Ste. Perpétue and St. Samuel. It was abolished in 1933 when it was redistributed into Lotbinière and Nicolet—Yamaska ridings. Yamaska was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1935. It was created by the ''British North America Act'', 1867, which preserved existing electoral districts in Lower Canada. Drummond is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1968. It was created in 1966 from Drummond—Arthabaska, Nicolet—Yamaska and Richmond—Wolfe. Geography The riding, located along the Saint-François River in the Quebec region of Centre-du-Québec, consists of the RCM of Drummond. The largest city is Drummondville. Florian Côté
Florian Côté (17 May 1929 – 29 January 2002) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Sainte-Brigitte-des-Saults, Quebec and became a farmer by career. He was first elected at the Nicolet—Yamaska riding in a 19 September 1966 by-election. Clément Vincent (May 18, 1931 – April 4, 2018) was a Canadian politician and a Member of the House of Commons of Canada. Background He was born on May 18, 1931 in Sainte-Perpétue, Centre-du-Québec. He was a farmer and an entrepreneur. Mayor Vincent served as Mayor of Sainte-Perpétue from January 19, 1959 to January 11, 1961. Paul Comtois
Paul Comtois, (August 22, 1895 – February 21, 1966) was a Canadian politician. Born in Pierreville, Quebec, the son of Urbain Comtois and Elizabeth McCaffrey, he ran unsuccessfully for the House of Commons of Canada in the 1930 federal election and in a 1933 by-election. He was elected in 1957 election for the riding of Nicolet—Yamaska. A Progressive Conservative, he was re-elected in the 1958 election. From 1957 to 1961, he was the Minister of Mines and Technical Surveys. In 1961, he was appointed the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Quebec. He served until 1966, when he was killed in a fire that destroyed his official residence. Maurice Boisvert (18 February 1897 – 23 February 1988) was a Canadian politician and lawyer. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada as a Member of the Liberal Party in the 1949 election to represent the riding of Nicolet—Yamaska defeating Progressive Conservative MP Renaud Chapdelaine who had won an upset by-election victory earlier that year. Lucien Dubois
Lucien Dubois (30 April 1893 – 8 November 1948) was a Liberal party and Independent Liberal member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Gentilly, Quebec and became a farmer by career. Dubois was educated at Arthabaska College. He was also author of a history of Gentilly. He was first elected to Parliament at the Nicolet riding in the 1930 general election.
