Nicolas Ribonnier
Nicolas Ribonnier ( 1525 – 1605) was a 16th-century French architect. Biography Ribonnier was probably from Langres but no documents were found to confirm it. A Jean Ribonnier priest of Heuilley-le-Grand has been found. If he was from his family, his Langrois origin would be fortified. If he worked on the rood screen of the cathédrale Saint-Mammès de Langres, this implies that he lived in Langres around 1550. He is quoted as godfather in an act of the parish of Saint-Pierre de Langres, on 18 January 1560. In a royal letter of 1564 registered at the Chamber of Accounts of Dijon, it is written ''Nicolas Ribonier, maçon en nostre ville de Dijon'' is endowed with the office of ''visiteur des ouvrages des places fortes, villes et chasteaulx de notre pays de Bourgogne'', a position vacant following the death of Jean de Vaulx. Langres () is a commune in France, commune in northeastern France. Claude de Longwy de Givry (1481–1561) was a French bishop and Cardinal (Catholicism), Cardinal, from an aristocratic background. He was the son of Philippe de Longuy, Seigneur de Givry and Jeanne de Beautremont, Dame de Mirabeau. He had four brothers: Jean de Longuy, Sieur de Givry and Baron de Mirabeau (who married Jeanne d'Angoulême, Jeanne d'Orleans, natural sister of Francis I of France, King Francis I), Christophe de Longuy, Antoine de Longuy, and Étienne de Longuy. Château De Sully
The Château de Sully, situated between Autun and Beaune (Saône-et-Loire), is the largest of the Renaissance châteaux of southern Burgundy. Paired outbuildings of a more vernacular character face each other across a grassed forecourt, while to the rear is the vegetable garden, fenced by fruit trees. The château is approached by an axial stone bridge across its moat. Gaspard De Saulx
Gaspard de Saulx, sieur de Tavannes (March 1509–June 1573) was a French Roman Catholic military leader during the Italian Wars and the French Wars of Religion. He served under four kings during his career, participating in the Siege of Calais (1558) and leading the royal army to victory in the third civil war at the Jarnac and Moncontour. A strong Catholic, he founded the confraternity of the holy ghost in 1567 which would be a template for other militant Catholic organisations across France. He died in 1573, shortly after the opening assassinations of the Massacre of Saint Bartholomew, which he had helped plan.
