Nicolas Deschamps (ice Hockey)
Nicolas Deschamps (born January 6, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. He is currently playing for Brûleurs de Loups of the Ligue Magnus. Deschamps made his professional debut in the AHL in 2009 when he appeared in two games for the Iowa Chops. He made his National Hockey League debut in the 2013–14 NHL season, 2013–14 season with the Washington Capitals. Playing career Deschamps was a second round pick, 35th overall, of the Anaheim Ducks at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He began his junior career in 2007–08 QMJHL season, 2007–08, scoring 24 goals and 67 points in 63 games for the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. He won the Michel Bergeron Trophy as the QMJHL's offensive rookie of the year, and was named to both the QMJHL and Canadian Hockey League, CHL All-Rookie Teams. 2008 NHL Entry Draft
The 2008 NHL Entry Draft was the 46th NHL Entry Draft. It was hosted by the Ottawa Senators at Scotiabank Place in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, on June 20–21, 2008. The Senators were originally awarded the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, but because of the lockout, that draft was scaled back significantly from its usual format of being open to the public and having many draft-eligible players in attendance. The actual 2005 drafting was held in Ottawa's Westin Hotel instead of the Corel Centre, as Canadian Tire Centre was then known. As a result of 2005's abridged draft, Ottawa was compensated with the 2008 draft. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. Kevin Marshall
Kevin Marshall (born March 10, 1989) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played for the Philadelphia Flyers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Marshall was drafted in the second round, 41st overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. He began his professional career in 2009 with Philadelphia's AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, and spent most of the next three seasons with the Phantoms. He made his NHL debut on November 21, 2011 against the Carolina Hurricanes and played a total of ten games with the Flyers before being sent back down to the Phantoms. On February 2, 2012, Marshall was traded to the Washington Capitals for Matt Ford. Calder Cup
The Calder Cup is the trophy awarded annually to the playoff champions of the American Hockey League. It was first presented in 1937 to the Syracuse Stars. The cup is made of sterling silver mounted on a base of Brazilian mahogany. In its current shape, the trophy has a two-tiered square base with commemorative plaques for each of the AHL's 20 most recent champions: 12 on the bottom tier and 8 on the top tier. Each time a new championship plaque is added, the oldest plaque is retired and joins a display at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Toronto Marlies
The Toronto Marlies are a professional ice hockey team based in Toronto. They compete in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a member of the North Division of the Eastern Conference. The Marlies is owned by Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment, a company that owns several professional sports teams in the city, including their NHL affiliate, the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Marlies have played their home games at Coca-Cola Coliseum since 2005. The Marlies was established as the New Brunswick Hawks in 1978. Gianluca Caputi (born October 1, 1988) is a Canadians, Canadian former professional ice hockey player and current head coach with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League. The 2008–09 QMJHL season was the 40th season of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The regular season began on September 11, 2008, and ended on March 15, 2009. The Canadian Hockey League (CHL; french: Ligue canadienne de hockey ‒ LCH) is an umbrella organization that represents the three Canada-based major junior ice hockey leagues.
