Nicolae N. Beldiceanu
Nicolae N. Beldiceanu (May 15, 1881–June 9, 1923) was a Romanian short story writer. Born in Rădășeni, Suceava County, his parents were Nicolae Beldiceanu and his wife Aglaia (''née'' Lateș). He studied at the National College in Iași, where one of his classmates was Mihail Sadoveanu, with whom he would later translate Ivan Turgenev's '' Hunting Sketches''. His first book was the 1905 ''Chipuri de la mahala''; this was followed by ''Cea dintâi iubire'' (1906), ''Maica Melania'' (1909), ''Povestiri mărunte'' (1909), ''La un han, odată...'' (1911), ''Neguri'' (1911), ''Chilia dragostei'' (1913) ''Fetița doctorului'' (1914), ''Fântâna balaurului'' (1921) and ''Ospățul'' (1921). ''Flacăra'' (Romanian for "The Flame") is a weekly literary magazine published in Bucharest, Romania. History and profile ''Flacăra'' was started in 1911. The first issue was published on 22 October 1911. The founder was Constantin Banu and the magazine covers the articles on the literary work by Romanian writers. The headquarters is in Bucharest. During the Ceauşescu era it was a communist publication and supported the isolation of Romania from Europe together with other magazines. Poporanist
Poporanism is a Romanian version of nationalism and populism. The word is derived from ''popor'', meaning "people" in Romanian. Founded by Constantin Stere in the early 1890s, Poporanism is distinguished by its opposition to socialism, promotion of voting rights for all and its intent to reform the Parliament and the farming system. Regarding Romania's agrarian situation, Poporanists wished to form co-operative farms for the peasants and to remove them from aristocratic control. Unlike Junimism, another popular political philosophy, Poporanism focused mainly on expanding the power of the peasants. In a very nationalist manner, it was also a champion of the Romanian language and of maintaining the Romanian spirit. Several famous Romanians, including Ion Agârbiceanu, supported it. Formerly the platform of the left-wing traditionalist trend known as poporanism, it is now one of the Writers' Union of Romania's main venues.
