Nicola L
Nicola L. (born Nicola Leuthe, 1932–2018) was a visual artist who developed a multidisciplinary practice that playfully merged the principles of art and design. Born in Morocco to French parents, the artist was initially associated with Pop Art and went on to work across five decades, creating interactive sculptures, radical performances, and collage-like paintings, as well as films and plays. Responsive to the counter-cultural movements that originally framed her practice, Nicola L.'s expansive body of work was united through an engagement with feminist politics, and the ideals of equality and collectivity. The artist became particularly known for her witty, anthropomorphic sculptures that fused female bodies and domestic objects, materializing the objectification of women. The artist described her work as "an ephemeral monument to freedom." Mazagan, Morocco
El Jadida (, ; originally known in Berber as Maziɣen or Mazighen; known in Portuguese as Mazagão) is a major port city on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, located 96 km south of the city of Casablanca, in the province of El Jadida and the region of Casablanca-Settat. Nouveau réalisme (French: new realism) refers to an artistic movement founded in 1960 by the art critic Pierre Restany and the painter Yves Klein during the first collective exposition in the Apollinaire gallery in Milan. Alison Jacques is a contemporary art gallery in London, established in 2004 by Alison Jacques. Details Originally sited in a small townhouse off Bond Street, London W1, it relocated in 2007 to a space at 16-18 Berners Street opposite the Sanderson Hotel in Fitzrovia. Since opening her own gallery in 2004, Jacques has developed an exhibition program of both unknown and established artists, representing the estates of artists including Mária Bartuszová, Lygia Clark, Roy Oxlade, Dorothea Tanning and Hannah Wilke. Ulrike Meinhof
Ulrike Marie Meinhof (7 October 1934 – 9 May 1976) was a German left-wing journalist and founding member of the Red Army Faction (RAF) in West Germany, commonly referred to in the press as the "Baader-Meinhof gang". She is the reputed author of ''The Urban Guerilla Concept'' (1971). The manifesto acknowledges the RAF's "roots in the history of the student movement"; condemns "reformism" as "a brake on the anti-capitalist struggle"; and invokes Mao Zedong to define "armed struggle" as "the highest form of Marxism-Leninism". Meinhof, who took part in the RAF's May Offensive in 1972, was arrested in June of that year and spent the rest of her life in custody, largely isolated from outside contact.
