Nicola Carey
Nicola Jane Carey (born 10 September 1993) is an Australian cricketer who plays for the national cricket team as an all-rounder, batting left-handed and bowling right-arm medium pace. At the domestic level, she plays in the Women's National Cricket League for Tasmania and in the Women's Big Bash League for the Hobart Hurricanes. Until 2019, she played in those two competitions for the New South Wales Breakers and the Sydney Thunder, respectively. Career Carey was a member of the victorious Southern Stars squad that won the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 title in Sri Lanka. Carey was part of two ICC World Twenty20 in 2012 and in 2016. She made her Women's One Day International cricket (WODI) debut for Australia Women against India Women on 12 March 2018. Although she bowled well, and was praised by the team's coach, Matthew Mott, as having had "a fabulous debut", she did not take any wickets in her 10 overs, and was not required to bat. Sydney Thunder (WBBL)
The Sydney Thunder (WBBL) are an Australian women's Twenty20 cricket team based in Sydney Olympic Park, New South Wales. They are one of two teams from Sydney to compete in the Women's Big Bash League, the other being the Sydney Sixers. The Thunder have claimed two WBBL titles, winning the 2015–16 Women's Big Bash League season, league's inaugural championship and the 2020–21 Women's Big Bash League season, 2020–21 title. 2022 Commonwealth Games
The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017. Matthew Mott
Matthew Peter Mott (born 3 October 1973) is an Australian cricket coach and a former first-class cricketer. He is the former coach of the Australian Women's Cricket Team. He currently coaches the England men's white-ball cricket team. Playing career Mott played for the Victorian Bushrangers and Queensland Bulls. He was part of the Australian Cricket Academy in Adelaide in 1995. A left-handed batsman, he made his first-class debut in 1994–95, playing for Queensland. He was in and out of the side but made a crucial 86 in Queensland's 1996–97 Sheffield Shield Final. He relocated to Victoria for the 1998–99 season and performed well, cementing his spot in the upper order. His first season included centuries against New South Wales and Western Australia. Women's One Day International Cricket
Women's One Day International (WODI) is the limited overs form of women's cricket. Matches are scheduled for 50 overs, equivalent to the men's game. The first women's ODIs were played in 1973, as part of the first Women's World Cup which was held in England. The first ODI saw the hosts beat an International XI. The 1,000th women's ODI took place between South Africa and New Zealand on 13 October 2016. WODI status is determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and was restricted to full members of the ICC. In May 2022, the ICC awarded WODI status to five more teams. The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 was the sixth edition of the ICC World Twenty20, the world championship of Twenty20 International cricket. It was held in India from 8 March to 3 April 2016, and was the first edition to be hosted by India. Seven cities hosted matches in the tournament – Bangalore, Dharamshala, Kolkata, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur, and New Delhi. The ICC Men's T20 World Cup (earlier known as ICC World Twenty20) is the international championship of Twenty20. The 2012 ICC World Twenty20 was the fourth ICC World Twenty20 competition, an international Twenty20 cricket tournament that took place in Sri Lanka from 18 September to 7 October 2012 which was won by the West Indies. The Women's Big Bash League (known as the WBBL and, for sponsorship reasons, the Weber WBBL) is the Australian women's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition. All-rounder
An all-rounder is a cricketer who regularly performs well at both batting and bowling. Although all bowlers must bat and quite a handful of batsmen do bowl occasionally, most players are skilled in only one of the two disciplines and are considered specialists.
