Nickelodeon (Latin American TV Channel)
Nickelodeon is a Latin American pay television channel, counterpart of the American network of the same name. It is owned by Paramount Networks Americas and was launched on 20 November 1995. Aside from airing Nick and Nick Jr. content, it has produced original programming for the channel and has been sold to local distributors worldwide except for Cuba as cable television is banned in that country. History The channel was launched on 20 December 1996 in Latin America as a children-oriented channel, being the main competitor of Cartoon Network, which was launched three years before. In 1999, Nickelodeon launched its official website for the region, MundoNick.com. "Nick Radio" was also available, but eventually it was replaced by the Nick Jr. official site. 1080i
1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. A related display resolution is 1080p, which also has 1080 lines of resolution; the "p" refers to progressive scan, which indicates that the lines of resolution for each frame are "drawn" on the screen in sequence. The term assumes a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9 (a rectangular TV that is wider than it is tall), so the 1080 lines of vertical resolution implies 1920 columns of horizontal resolution, or 1920 pixels × 1080 lines. Disney Channel is a Latin American pay television network broadcasting throughout Hispanic America and Brazil. It was officially launched on July 27, 2000 as a premium-label channel in Hispanic America, and also in Brazil back on April 5, 2001, and became a basic pay TV network in 2004. It is available using four different feeds, each with various programming schedules and timings. It is mostly marketed to children; however, in recent years the range of viewers has expanded to include an older audience. Viacom (2005–2019)
The second incarnation of Viacom Inc. ( or ; a portmanteau of Video & Audio Communications) was an American multinational mass media conglomerate with interests primarily in film and television, which was formed on December 31, 2005, as a spin-off of the original Viacom (founded by Ralph Baruch in 1952 as CBS Television Film Sales). It was one of two companies which succeeded the original Viacom, alongside the second incarnation of CBS Corporation; both were owned by National Amusements, a theater company controlled by businessman Sumner Redstone. Nick At Nite International Versions
Despite the success of Nick at Nite in the United States, most international versions of Nickelodeon do not carry their own Nick at Nite programming block, as those local versions of Nickelodeon outside of the United States either carry children's programming 24 hours a day or run a non-Nick at Nite program block during the nighttime hours. While Nick at Nite's U.S. flagship primarily focuses on reruns of discontinued primetime network sitcoms, some of these international versions have aired reruns of discontinued Nickelodeon series. ''Miss XV'', sometimes stylized as ''Miss 15'', is a Mexican teen musical comedy-drama television series, it is loosely inspired on 1987 telenovela ''Quinceañera''. Pedro Damián produced the series for Nickelodeon and Canal 5 in 2012. ''Grachi'' was a Spanish language American fantasy series produced by Nickelodeon Latin America, Nickelodeon created by Mariela Romero. The series stars Isabella Castillo as Grachi and Andrés Mercado as Daniel; also featuring and Kimberly Dos Ramos, Mauricio Henao, Sol Rodríguez and Lance Dos Ramos in supporting roles.
