Nickelodeon (Flanders)
Nickelodeon is a Belgian television channel that is derived from the Dutch Nickelodeon. The channel started in the summer of 2009 when it got its own programming. Via the satellite, the Dutch version is still being broadcast. History Launch in the Netherlands Shortly after the Dutch children's channel Kindernet was taken over by MTV Networks Benelux in 2002, the station was renamed Nickelodeon. Kindernet was then still temporarily the name of a toddler block in the morning, but after a while it was renamed Nick Jr. The channel also moved from timesharing with Net5 to another television channel, Veronica. Initially Nickelodeon took care of the daytime programming, while Veronica was responsible for the evening programmes. However, due to Veronica's low viewing figures, the station started broadcasting a lot of sex-related programmes, with the result that the programme Councils of Groningen/Drenthe and Amsterdam, among others, decided to take the station off cable. 1080i
1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. A related display resolution is 1080p, which also has 1080 lines of resolution; the "p" refers to progressive scan, which indicates that the lines of resolution for each frame are "drawn" on the screen in sequence. The term assumes a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9 (a rectangular TV that is wider than it is tall), so the 1080 lines of vertical resolution implies 1920 columns of horizontal resolution, or 1920 pixels × 1080 lines. Kindernet
Kindernet (as Nickelodeon Kindernet from 2011 to 2013) was a Dutch television network that aired classic and modern children's television series from the 1980s onward. Two iterations of the network have been broadcast; the original lasted from 1988 to 2003, while a Nickelodeon-branded revival launched 2011 and ended in 2013. History Original (1988–2003) Kindernet began as an idea by Dennis Livson, a Finnish producer and distributor of animated programmes in the 1970s. He believed that, at the time, children's programmes made for television were too violent for young viewers. He therefore started a network with so called "violence-free" cartoons. Nickelodeon (often shortened to Nick) is an American pay television television channel, channel which launched on April 1, 1979, as the first cable channel for children. It is run by Paramount Global through its List of assets owned by Paramount Global#Kids & Family Entertainment, networks division's Kids and Family Group. Its programming is primarily aimed at children aged 2–17, along with a broader family audience through its block programming, program blocks. Proximus TV (former Belgacom TV), subsidiary of the Belgacom Group, provides Digital TV (IPTV) services over its own IPTV Platform in Belgium. It was launched in the summer of 2005. Proximus TV is distributed using ADSL/VDSL solution. This IPTV service was originally distributed over ADSL which later evolved to ADSL2+. More recently, the Broadway Project started providing fiber to the street cabinets and VDSL2 from the street cabinets to the home. By increasing bandwidth and evolving from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 AVC compression, Proximus TV currently offers high-definition television to many Belgian households. Like satellite broadcasts, and unlike cable distributors, the distribution of Proximus TV is not limited to a certain municipality or province. MTV Global (formerly as MTV Europe) is the international version of the American TV channel MTV, a 24-hour music and entertainment TV channel that began broadcasting on August 1, 1987, as part of the worldwide MTV network. TMF was a Belgian pay television channel whose programming was centred towards pop music videoclips. TMF was operated by Viacom International Media Networks. Originally an abbreviation of "The Music Factory", the channel was launched as TMF Vlaanderen in 1998, mainly due to the success of the eponymous Dutch music television channel. The station began broadcasting on October 3, 1998. The recordings of TMF Flanders occurred mainly in the Eurocam Media Center in Lint, there was until mid-2013 also established the parent company. History TMF Flanders was launched on October 3, 1998. On October 5, 2015, Viacom announced that TMF will stop broadcasting om November 1, 2015. Bassie And Adriaan
Bassie & Adriaan was a television programme series focusing on the adventures and lives of a circus duo consisting of clown Bassie and acrobat Adriaan, played by real-life circus duo Bas and Aad van Toor. Written by Aad van Toor and originally produced by Joop van den Ende, the first series became a television hit in the Netherlands in the spring season of 1978. At its peak, the show attracted over three million viewers, which was noted to be "a lot" for a children's programme. The show ran for nine series, with the last original episode airing in 1996.
