Nick Waterlow
Nicholas Anthony Ronald Waterlow (30 August 1941 – 9 November 2009) was a curator at the Ivan Dougherty Gallery at UNSW in Sydney, Australia until his death. He was well known and respected as an expert on the history of art in Australia and was on the editorial board of the Art & Australia magazine. He was notable for his curating at the Biennale of Sydney at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and a retrospective of the pop artist Martin Sharp. Waterlow was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 1990 Australia Day Honours for "service to the arts". Ivan Dougherty
Major General Sir Ivan Noel Dougherty, (6 April 1907 – 4 March 1998) was an Australian Army officer during the Second World War and early Cold War period. Education and early life Ivan Noel Dougherty was born on 6 April 1907 in Leadville, New South Wales, a small town between Dunedoo and Coolah, New South Wales, the son of Isabella Dougherty and a father he never knew. He was educated at Mudgee High School and Sydney Teachers College. In 1928 he became a teacher at Marrickville Junior Technical School (now Marrickville Public School). While teaching by day he completed a four-year Bachelor of Economics degree at the University of Sydney. He transferred to Tingha Public School in 1931 and then to Armidale West Public School. In 1926, while still at Sydney Teachers' College, Dougherty joined the Sydney University Regiment, in which he was commissioned as a lieutenant on 27 July 1927. Art & Australia Pty Ltd is a biannual digital magazine, the country's longest-running art journal, since 1963. The Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW), founded as the New South Wales Academy of Art in 1872 and known as the National Art Gallery of New South Wales between 1883 and 1958, is located in The Domain, Sydney, Australia. Martin Sharp
Martin Ritchie Sharp (21 January 1942 – 1 December 2013) was an Australian artist, cartoonist, songwriter and film-maker. Career Sharp was born in Bellevue Hill, New South Wales in 1942, and educated at Cranbrook private school, where one of his teachers was the artist Justin O'Brien. In 1960, Sharp enrolled at the National Art School at East Sydney. He was one of the editors of '' Oz'', an Australia/UK alternative/ underground satire magazine published from 1963 to 1973 and associated with the international counterculture of that era. Sharp was called Australia's foremost pop artist. He wrote the lyrics of the Cream song "Tales of Brave Ulysses," and created the cover art for Cream's ''Disraeli Gears'' and ''Wheels of Fire'' albums.
