Nick Speegle
Nicholas David Speegle (born November 29, 1981) is a former American football linebacker. He played in the National Football League (NFL) with the Cleveland Browns from 2005 to 2006. Speegle played college football at the University of New Mexico. High school career Speegle attended La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was a good student and a letterman in both football and track and field. As a senior, he was a first-team All-State defensive end and a second-team state tight end in football. In track and field, he won state and set school records in the 110-meter hurdles. College career Speegle was a four-year starter at outside linebacker. He was a consistent defensive force after working his way into the starting lineup as a redshirt freshman. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). In American football, the specific role that a player takes on the field is referred to as their "position".
