Nicholas Anthony Robinson (born 5 October 1963) is a British journalist, currently a presenter on the BBC's ''Today'' programme. Prior to this he spent ten years as political editor for the BBC and has had many other roles with the broadcaster. Robinson was interested in politics from an early age. He studied philosophy, politics and economics at the University of Oxford, where he was also president of the Oxford University Conservative Association. Starting out in broadcasting at Piccadilly Radio, after a year as president of the Conservative Party youth group, he worked his way up as a producer, eventually becoming deputy editor of ''Panorama'' before becoming a political correspondent in 1996. Robinson became the BBC's chief political correspondent in 1999. Between 2002 and 2005, he worked for ITV News as political editor but then returned to the BBC assuming the same role. Nick Robinson (paperfolder)
Nick Robinson (born 8 January 1957 in Burnham-on-Sea, England) is a British paperfolder. He was awarded the Sydney French Medal in 2004 by the British Origami Society and is an Honorary Member and President of the British Origami Society. He has folded a kaleidoscope of projects over the course of his career, but is drawn to folding containers, masks, and simple designs. His approach to origami is to try and capture the essence of a subject using minimal creases, rather than a more realistic representation. He is actively involved with the Folding Didactic movement, which aims to promote academic study of the history of paper-folding and the most effective way to teach it. Nicky Robinson (rugby Union)
Nicholas John Robinson (born 3 January 1982 in Cardiff) is a former Wales international rugby union player who played at fly-half. He is the younger brother of Jamie Robinson. Both were educated at Ysgol Glantaf which has educated several Wales internationals and Cardiff-based players, including Jamie Roberts. Nicky Robinson speaks Welsh fluently. Nick was one of European rugby's leading fly-halves and he has amassed nearly 1,500 points to date in club rugby for his four professional sides - Cardiff Blues, Gloucester, Wasps & Bristol. Nicholas Kenneth Robinson (born 9 February 1946) is an Irish author, historian, solicitor and cartoonist who is the husband of the 7th President of Ireland and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson. Nicky Robinson is an American video game programmer and software developer. Her career spanned over thirty years, extending back to titles such as '' Star Control'' and '' Mail Order Monsters'', which she worked on with Evan Robinson and game designer Paul Reiche III. Nicholas Robinson (died 1585) was a Welsh Bishop of Bangor and correspondent of Lord William Cecil, Sir Francis Walsingham, and Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester. Life Born at Conwy in North Wales, he was the second son of John Robinson, by his wife Ellin, daughter of William Brickdale. He was educated at Queens' College, Cambridge, where he matriculated in 1545 as a sizar, proceeded B.A. in 1548, and was a fellow from 1548 to 1563. In 1551 he commenced M.A., was bursar of his own college in 1551–3, and a proctor in the university for 1552, dean of his college 1577–8, and vice-president of his college in 1561. Nicholas Robinson (mayor)
Nicholas Robinson (1769 – 1854) was Mayor of Liverpool, England, in 1828–29. He was a rich corn merchant who had paid £4500 for the land in Aigburth, Liverpool, upon which he had Sudley House built as his home around 1824. He died at Sudley on 3 or 4 February 1854 and the house then passed into the ownership of his two daughters. Robinson was first elected to Liverpool council on 4 January 1815. He contested unsuccessfully against Thomas Colley Porter for the office of mayor in 1827, in an election that was notorious for the bribery that ensued. The situation was fuelled by the economic expansion of the city, which meant that some people were awash with money. Parliamentary historian Margaret Escott says that the 1827 mayoral election, which Porter won by 1780 votes to 1765 in a poll that lasted six days, was "the most expensive, venal and violent mayoral contest" up to that time.
