Nick Powell (bassist)
Nick Powell is an English musician and songwriter. He is the singer and bassist of the rock band Sebastopol. Prior to Sebastopol he was the bassist in the now defunct band Kinky Machine. In addition, he is a photographer responsible for the two Twelfth Night album covers for '' Collector's Item'' and '' Live and Let Live''. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. The Pleasers are an English power pop group, founded in 1977 in West London/Surrey, England, consisting of Stephen Benham, Steve McNerney, Nick Powell and Dave Rotchelle. They released five singles; one on Solid Gold Records (released on Ariola Records in West Germany), and four on Arista Records, however none of the singles entered the UK Singles Chart, they contributed two tracks ("Billy" and "Rock & Roll Radio") to the ''Hope & Anchor Front Row Festival'' LP record, songs from their 1977 and 1978 Studio recordings were eventually released in the United Kingdom on compact disc in 1996, and a version with extra tracks was released in Japan in 2009. Twelfth Night (band)
Twelfth Night are an English neo-progressive rock band of the 1980s, reformed between 2007 and 2012 and again in 2014. The BBC has described them as Reading's biggest band of the 1980s. History Formation The seeds of Twelfth Night were sown when guitarist Andy Revell and drummer Brian Devoil joined forces on 23 February 1978 to win a talent competition at Reading University. The road crew included Geoff Mann as backdrop painter, and Rick Battersby as dry ice engineer. Devoil's previous musical experience was of various local bands in Reading, including ''Trash'' with whom he recorded a single ''"Priorities"'' released by Polydor in October the previous year.
