Nick Pollard
George Nicholas Pollard (born 15 November 1950) is a British journalist and the former head of Sky News. Early life and education Pollard was born in Birkenhead and educated at Birkenhead School, an independent school in the town. Career in journalism Pollard started his career in journalism as a reporter at the ''Birkenhead News'', and later worked for the BBC from 1977 to 1980 in Liverpool and London. ITN He was executive producer at ITN from 1987 to 1992 on the '' News at Ten''. He was a television journalist at ITN from 1980 to 1992. He produced ITN's coverage for the elections in 1987 and 1992. John Hamilton Ryley (born 21 December 1961) is a British television producer, and the head of Sky News. Early life He was born in Chelmsford in Essex. He is a single child. His father worked for the National Farmers Union (NFU). He is a childhood friend of Charles Moore, of the '' Daily Telegraph''. He went to Eastbourne College. He attended Durham University ( Hild & Bede) from 1981 to 1984, studying Latin, English and Russian Studies. He planned on becoming a barrister. George Edward Entwistle (born 8 July 1962) was Director-General of the BBC during 2012, succeeding Mark Thompson. After a career in magazine journalism, he joined BBC Television in 1989, becoming a producer with a primary focus in factual and political programmes. Birkenhead
Birkenhead (; cy, Penbedw) is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside, England; historically, it was part of Cheshire until 1974.
