Nick Nevid
Nicholas Nevid (born 1960) is a retired world-champion American swimmer. He is now a physiologist with a strong interest in marine biology. Nick grew up in Elm Grove, Wisconsin. His sister is Nancy Nevid Kryka, a member of the Minnesota Masters Swimming Hall of Fame. His brother is the medal-winning triathlete Nathan "Nate" Nevid. Swimming Nevid attended the University of Texas, where he was a member of the Texas Longhorns swimming and diving team and the Nashville Aquatic Club. Rowdy Gaines
Ambrose "Rowdy" Gaines IV (born February 17, 1959) is an American former competitive swimmer, U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame member, three-time Olympic gold medalist, and member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame. He is a swimming analyst for television network NBC. He has covered swimming at the Olympic Games since 1992 in Barcelona. Early life Gaines was born in Winter Haven, Florida, to Jettie Ann and Ambrose "Buddy" Gaines, who met there as water skiers at Cypress Gardens in the 1950s. Gaines tried several sports during his teenage years, but turned to swimming as a Winter Haven High School junior at age 17. He received a swimming scholarship to Auburn University. The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". Biofouling
Biofouling or biological fouling is the accumulation of microorganisms, plants, algae, or small animals where it is not wanted on surfaces such as ship and submarine hulls, devices such as water inlets, pipework, grates, ponds, and rivers that cause degradation to the primary purpose of that item.
