''Nicht von dieser Welt 2'' ("Not from This World 2") is the sixth studio album by German singer Xavier Naidoo, released via his Naidoo Records label on 1 April 2016 in German-speaking Europe. Titled as the sequel and serving as a thematical extension to his 1998 breakthrough album '' Nicht von dieser Welt'', it marked Naidoo's reunion with long-time contributor and former mentor Moses Pelham, who wrote and executive produced most of the album with his songwriting collective. Upon its release, ''Nicht von dieser Welt 2'' debuted atop the album charts in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, becoming Naidoo's second album to do so following 2005's '' Telegramm für X''. Xavier Naidoo
Xavier Kurt Naidoo (German: kseːviɐ naɪˈduː born 2 October 1971) is a German soul and R&B singer, songwriter and record producer. He is a founding member of German band Söhne Mannheims, and started two record labels, Beats Around the Bush and Naidoo Records. Naidoo also has a successful solo career. Contemporary R&B (or simply R&B) is a popular music genre that combines rhythm and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop, and electronic music. Moses Pelham
Moses Pelham (born 24 February 1971 in Frankfurt) is a German rapper, singer and producer. In 1993, together with Thomas Hofmann in Frankfurt, he started the Rödelheim Hartreim Projekt. Pelham is a member of the German band Glashaus. In 2019, in a lawsuit against the German band Kraftwerk, Pelham lost a groundbreaking in the European Court of Justice for unauthorised sampling. The ruling means that samples which are recognisable infringe copyright law where no permission has been sought from the rightsholder. However, there is no infringement if the sample is unrecognisable. The case was referred back to the German court who gave the final decision. The German court decided that the sample was recognisable, and therefore ultimately, Pelham lost his 20 year legal saga. The Bundesverband Musikindustrie (English: Federal Music Industry Association), or simply BVMI, represents the music industry in Germany. The association represents the interests of nearly 280 labels and music industry related enterprises, which comprise 90% of the music industry. Bundesverband Musikindustrie is a member of International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which is based in London, England. IFPI consists of music associations of 70 countries. Amazing Grace
"Amazing Grace" is a Christian hymn published in 1779 with words written in 1772 by English Anglican clergyman and poet John Newton (1725–1807). It is an immensely popular hymn, particularly in the United States, where it is used for both religious and secular purposes. Newton wrote the words from personal experience; he grew up without any particular religious conviction, but his life's path was formed by a variety of twists and coincidences that were often put into motion by others' reactions to what they took as his recalcitrant insubordination. He was pressed (navally conscripted) into service with the Royal Navy, and after leaving the service, he became involved in the Atlantic slave trade. John Newton
John Newton (; – 21 December 1807) was an English evangelical Anglican cleric and slavery abolitionist. He had previously been a captain of slave ships and an investor in the slave trade. He served as a sailor in the Royal Navy (after forced recruitment) and was himself enslaved for a time in West Africa. He is noted for being author of the hymns '' Amazing Grace'' and '' Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken''. Newton went to sea at a young age and worked on slave ships in the slave trade for several years. In 1745, he himself became a slave of Princess Peye, a woman of the Sherbro people in what is now Sierra Leone. He was rescued, returned to sea and the trade, becoming Captain of several slave ships. After retiring from active sea-faring, he continued to invest in the slave trade.
