Nicholas Arnold (1507–1580)
Sir Nicholas Arnold (1507–1580) was an English courtier and politician, who held office as lord justice of Ireland. Life Nicholas was born at Churcham in Gloucestershire, the eldest surviving son of John Arnold and his wife Isabel Hawkins. His father was lord of the manors of Highnam and Over in Gloucestershire. In 1530 he entered the service of Thomas Cromwell and assisted him in the Dissolution of the Monasteries. He was by 1526 a gentleman pensioner of Henry VIII and in 1538 one of the King's Bodyguard. Soldier and politician In 1546 he was sent to take charge of the English fort of Boulogneberg near Boulogne in France. In May 1549 the fort was attacked by the French but they were completely defeated; Arnold himself was wounded in the attack. After a second attack the following August, Arnold realised defence was hopeless and, dismantling the fort, withdrew to Boulogne. He was knighted some time during the reign of Edward VI (c.1553) and spent time travelling in Italy ...

Nicholas Arnold (MP For Monmouthshire)
Nicholas Arnold (1600–1665) was a Welsh gentleman landowner who sat in the House of Commons between 1626 and 1629. Arnold was the son of John Arnold of Llanthony. He matriculated at St Alban Hall, Oxford, on 29 November 1616 aged sixteen. In 1626, Arnold was elected Member of Parliament for Monmouthshire. He was re-elected as member for Monmouthshire in 1628 and held his seat until 1629, when King Charles decided to rule without parliament for eleven years. Nick Arnold (writer)
Nick Arnold (born 4 August 1964) is a British writer of science books for children. He is best known for the long series '' Horrible Science'', illustrated by Tony De Saulles, and the short series ''Wild Lives'', illustrated by Jane Cope. His other works include some published under the name Robert Roland. Arnold was born in Cambridge, England. His first published works appeared as a result of a project he was working on at the University of North London, when he was trying to teach young children. A positive review was written about him and he started to write the ''Horrible Science'' books. Arnold left school with many history qualifications but decided to become a writer. He found it hard to get published however. He became an editor in London hoping that "working as an editor might help him get his own books published". Nicholas Samuel Arnold (born 3 July 1993) is an English footballer who plays as a right-back for National League South side Eastbourne Borough. He made his debut in the Football League in 2013. Club career Reading Arnold joined the Academy at Reading in 2007 and signed a scholarship agreement two years later before turning professional in 2011. He signed a new deal in summer 2012 before extending his contract for a further year on 14 June 2013. After signing a new contract he immediately joined Wycombe Wanderers on a season-long loan and made his debut as a late substitute against Morecambe on 3 August.
