Nick Adams (born Nicholas Aloysius Adamshock; July 10, 1931 – February 7, 1968) was an American film and television actor and screenwriter. He was noted for his roles in several Hollywood films during the 1950s and 1960s along with his starring role in the ABC television series '' The Rebel'' (1959–1961). Decades after his death from a prescription drug overdose at the age of 36, his widely publicized friendships with James Dean and Elvis Presley would stir speculation about both his private life and the circumstances of his death. In an ''AllMovie'' synopsis for Adams's last film, reviewer Dan Pavlides wrote, "Plagued by personal excesses, he will be remembered just as much for what he could have done in cinema as what he left behind." Nicholas Adam (1716–1792) was a French linguist and writer. Born in Paris, he achieved distinction by authoring a grammar book which bore the title: ''La vraie manière d'apprendre une langue quelconque, vivante ou morte, par le moyen de la langue française'' ("True manner of learning an unspecified, living or dead language, by the means of the French language"). It consisted of five grammars: French, Latin, Italian, German, and English. Nicholas Adams is a fictional character, the protagonist of two dozen short stories and vignettes written in the 1920s and 1930s by American author Ernest Hemingway. Adams is partly inspired by Hemingway's own experiences, from his summers in Northern Michigan at Ernest Hemingway Cottage, his family cottage to his service in the Red Cross ambulance corps in World War I. The first of Hemingway's stories to feature Nick Adams was published in his 1925 collection ''In Our Time (short story collection), In Our Time'', with Adams appearing as a young child in the collection's first story, "Indian Camp". Debra Doyle (November 30, 1952 – October 31, 2020) was an American author in multiple related fiction genres, including science fiction, fantasy, and mystery, for young adults and adults. Her works were co-written with her husband, James D. Macdonald. Life and career Doyle earned a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania with a dissertation on Old English poetry. Nick Adams (born 7 August 1948) is a British former racing driver. Adams raced in British Formula Atlantic competition in 1980 and 1981. He began racing part-time in the World Sportscar Championship in 1985 and raced there until 1992. He made his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut for Chamberlain Engineering driving a Spice SE89C in 1989.
