What A Moonlit Night ( uk, Ніч яка місячна, Nich yaka misiachna) is a Ukrainian song composed by kobzar Andriy Voloshchenko and Vasyl Ovchynnikov with lyrics from a poem by Mykhailo Starytsky. Mykola Lysenko wrote the music for it, as an aria included in the opera, based on Mykola Gogol's story "The Drowned". It was first published in 1885 in the Odesa almanac "Niva". However, the song became world-famous with a different melody, which was composed by the Andriy Voloshchenko and Vasyl Ovchinnikov. Evgeny Mikhailovich Belyaev, also written as Yevgeny Belyayev (Russian: Евгений Михайлович Беля́ев) (Klintsy, 11 September 1926 – 21/22 February 1994), was a Russian tenor soloist of the Alexandrov Ensemble under Boris Alexandrov. Zolotonosha ( uk, Золотоноша , yi, זאלאטאנאשא) is a city located in Cherkasy Oblast (region) in central Ukraine. Aleksandr Nikolaevich Malinin (russian: Александр Николаевич Малинин, born Vyguzov, russian: Выгузов; 16 November 1958) is a Russian singer who was named a People's Artist of Russia in 1997. This is a list of opera singers from Ukraine, Soviet Union and Russian Empire, including ethnic Ukrainians and people of other ethnicities.
