Niall McInerney
Niall McInerney (8 May 1949 – 22 November 2004) was an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Clare and Galway senior teams. Born in Sixmilebridge, County Clare, McInerney first played competitive hurling in his youth. He made his first impression on the inter-county scene when he joined the Clare minor team, before later linking up with the under-21 team. He made his senior debut during the 1972 championship. McInerney later played a key role with Galway for almost a decade, and won one All-Ireland medal and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Connacht inter-provincial team at various times, McInerney won three Railway Cup medal. At club level he was a one-time intermediate championship medallist with Sixmilebridge. Sixmilebridge GAA
Sixmilebridge is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Sixmilebridge, County Clare, Ireland. History Sixmilebridge GAA Club was founded in 1904. The first recorded matches were at junior hurling and football level against Newmarket-on-Fergus with the hurlers winning and the footballers losing 2–07 to 0–02. The first recorded championship success was in 1940. Kilkishen were defeated in the Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship by Newmarket-on-Fergus. A further ten years elapsed before Sixmilebridge won the Clare Junior A Hurling Championship. In 1951 they won the Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship beating Ennis Dalcassians in the final. The following year the Bridge reached the county senior final only to be beaten by Scariff. In 1954 Sixmilebridge won their first ever senior trophy winning the Clare Cup against Newmarket-on-Fergus on a scoreline of 4-06 to 2-06. Croke Park
Croke Park ( ga, Páirc an Chrócaigh, ) is a Gaelic games stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Named after Archbishop Thomas Croke, it is referred to as Croker by GAA fans and locals. It serves as both the principal national stadium of Ireland and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Conor Hayes
Conor Hayes (born 11 May 1958) is an Irish former hurler who played as a full-back at senior level for the Galway county team. Born in Kiltormer, County Galway, Hayes first played competitive hurling in his youth. He made his first impression on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty he joined the Galway under-21 team. He made his senior debut during the 1979 championship. Hayes went on to play a key role for Galway for over a decade, and won three All-Ireland medals and two National Hurling League medals. A two-time All-Ireland-winning captain, Hayes was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Connacht inter-provincial team for almost a decade, Hayes won four Railway Cup medal. Éamonn Cregan
Éamonn Cregan (born 21 May 1945) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer, hurler and manager. He is best remembered for his success with Limerick, as a player in the 1970s and then as manager of various club and inter-county teams in the 1980s and 1990s. Cregan was inducted into the GAA Hall of Fame in 2013. Playing career Club Cregan played his club hurling and football with his local club in Claughaun and enjoyed much success. He won his first senior county title with the club in 1968 and added a second three years later in 1971. Cregan won a third and final county medal in 1986. This was Cregan's last appearance in a county championship final. Liam O'Brien (hurler)
Liam 'Chunky' O'Brien (1949 – 23 August 2021) was a former Republic of Ireland, Irish sportsperson. He played senior hurling with the Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny inter-county team in the 1970s. Early life Liam 'Chunky' O'Brien was born in Kilkenny in 1949. He was educated locally at St. John's De La Salle, a school associated with the O'Loughlin Gaels GAA, O'Loughlin Gaels hurling club. In spite of this, O'Brien would later become a star with the famous James Stephens (GAA Club), James Stephens club.
