James Stephens is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1887 and has enjoyed equal success in both hurling and Gaelic football. History James Stephens was founded in 1887 as a hurling club. The club is named after James Stephens, founding member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and took part in its first championship in 1888. The club was founded in the area of Patrick Street in Kilkenny city, an area locally known as 'the Village.' The Institute of Technology, Carlow (IT Carlow; ga, Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Cheatharlach) was an institute of technology, located in Carlow, Ireland. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. The Kilkenny Senior Hurling League (known for sponsorship reasons as the St. Canice's Credit Union Senior Hurling League) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1992 for the top hurling teams in the county of Kilkenny in Ireland. The series of games are played over the spring, summer and autumn months with the league final currently being played at Nowlan Park in September. The Leinster GAA Hurling All-Ireland Under-20 Championship known simply as the Leinster Under-20 Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). 2019 All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship
The 2019 All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship was the inaugural staging of the All-Ireland Under-20 Championship and the 56th staging overall of a hurling championship for players between the minor and senior grades. Prior to 2019 an All-Ireland Under-21 Championship was held. The championship began on 25 May 2019 and ended on 24 August 2019. Tipperary were the defending champions.
