Nguyễn Đình Thi
Nguyễn Đình Thi (December 20, 1924 – April 18, 2003) was a famous Vietnamese writer, poet and composer, most notable for writing Diệt phát xít, the song that became the official daily theme tune of the Voice of Vietnam. Biography He was born on December 20, 1924, in Luang Prabang, Laos. His home, Vũ Thạch Village, is now known as Bà Triệu street, Tràng Tiền ward, Hoàn Kiếm District, Hanoi, Vietnam. His father was an official in the Indochina Post Office, who moved to Laos to work. He came back to Vietnam in 1931, to study in Haiphong City and joined the Youth Rescue nation in 1941. He belonged to the generation of artists who were involved in the French defeat in the 1950s. He wrote essays on philosophy, poetry, music and drama. Đỗ Nhuận
Đỗ Nhuận (December 10, 1922 in Hải Dương – May 18, 1991 in Hanoi) was a Vietnamese classical composer. He is known for the first homegrown Vietnamese opera - ''Cô Sao'' "Miss Sao." This and other more-or-less revolutionary themed musicals were premiered by thVietnam National Opera and Ballet (VNOB)at the Grand Opera House. During the late 1960s he was highly critical of the "pop" music of songwriters in the South such as Phạm Duy. Đỗ Nhuận was the General Secretary of the Vietnam Musicians' Association in two continuous terms (1957-1963, and 1963-1983). Đỗ Nhuận is also the only musician in the first generation of Vietnamese neo-musicians who is well-trained (others mostly self-taught). He studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory from 1960 to 1963. West Lake (Hanoi)
West Lake ( vi, Hồ Tây) is the biggest freshwater lake of Hanoi, Vietnam, located northwest of the city center. With a shore length of 17 km (about 10.6 miles) and 500 hectare (about 5 km2) in area, this is the largest lake of the capital and a popular place for recreation with many surrounding gardens, hotels and villas. A small part of West Lake is divided by Thanh Niên road to form Trúc Bạch Lake. Most of the lake is located within Tây Hồ District, named after the lake. History West Lake was created from a curved part of Red River and appeared in several Vietnamese legends. Nguyễn Trãi (阮廌), pen name Ức Trai (抑齋); (1380–1442) was an illustrious Vietnamese Confucian scholar, a noted poet, a skilled politician and a master strategist. He was at times attributed with being capable of almost miraculous or mythical deeds in his designated capacity as a principal advisor of Lê Lợi, who fought against the Ming dynasty. NSND Lê Dung (5 June 1951 in Hòn Gai, Quảng Ninh – 29 January 2001 in Hanoi) was a Vietnamese soprano opera singer. She was a student at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and toured and performed widely in Eastern Europe. She won prizes at Sofia, Bulgaria 1987, Toulouse 1988 and Pyongyang. She was a member of the Hanoi Opera but also sang and recorded the works of Phú Quang and other popular songwriters.
