Nguyễn Thị Thiết
Nguyễn Thị Thiết (born October 27, 1984) is a Vietnamese weightlifter. She won a total of four medals (one gold and three silver) for the 63 kg class at the Southeast Asian Games (2003 in Hanoi, Vietnam, 2005 in Manila, Philippines, 2007 in Bangkok, Thailand, and 2009 in Vientiane, Laos). Nguyen made her official debut for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she competed for the women's middleweight class (63 kg). She finished only in sixth place by ten kilograms short of her record from South Korea's Kim Soo-Kyung, with a total of 205.0 kilograms (95 in the snatch, and 110 in the clean and jerk). At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Nguyen qualified for the second time in the women's 63 kg class, after finishing second from the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Kanazawa, Japan. Hải Dương () is a city in Vietnam. It is the capital of Hải Dương, an industrialized province in the Hanoi Capital Region and the Red River Delta in Northern Vietnam. Clean And Jerk
The clean and jerk is a composite of two weightlifting movements, most often performed with a barbell: the clean and the jerk. During the ''clean'', the lifter moves the barbell from the floor to a racked position across the deltoids, without resting fully on the clavicles. During the ''jerk'', the lifter raises the barbell to a stationary position above the head, finishing with straight arms and legs, and the feet in the same plane as the torso and barbell. Of the several variants of the lift, the most common is the Olympic clean and jerk, which, with the snatch, is contested in Olympic weightlifting events. Snatch (weightlifting)
The snatch is the first of two lifts contested in the sport of weightlifting (also known as Olympic weightlifting) followed by the clean and jerk. The objective of the snatch is to lift the barbell from the ground to overhead in one continuous motion. There are four main styles of snatch used: snatch (or full snatch), split snatch, power snatch, and muscle snatch. The full lift is the most common style used in competition, while power snatches and muscle snatches are mostly used for training purposes, and split snatches are rarely used. Any of these lifts can be performed from the floor, from the hang position, or from blocks. In competition, only lifts from the floor are allowed. 2008 Asian Weightlifting Championships
The 2008 Asian Weightlifting Championships were held at Ishikawa Sports Center in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture Japan between April 26 and May 5 2008. It was the 39th men's and 20th women's championship. Much of the responsibility for the event lay with the Japan Weightlifting Association overlooked by the Asian Weightlifting Federation. Weightlifting At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's 63 Kg
The women's 63 kilograms weightlifting event was the fourth women's event at the weightlifting competition, with competitors limited to a maximum of 63 kilograms of body mass. The whole competition took place on August 12, but was divided in two parts due to the number of competitors. Group B weightlifters competed at 12:30, and Group A, at 15:30. This event was the sixth Weightlifting event to conclude. Each lifter performed in both the snatch and clean and jerk lifts, with the final score being the sum of the lifter's best result in each.
