Senga Tribe
The Senga are an ethnic tribe of Zambia, distinct from the Nsenga people, Nsenga. The Senga are a tribe who migrated from the southern part of present-day Congo DRC. They re-settled in the Luangwa valley amongst the Tumbuka people, Tumbuka speaking people. The language they speak though similar to Tumbuka is distinct and also shares a common strain with Bisa/Bemba people, Bemba. Origins What the Senga can tell of their past begins with migration to their present home perhaps three centuries ago. There is unanimous agreement that their former home was a place called Uluwa which all evidence suggests was in what now is known as Katanga. There is evidence to suggest that prior to this time the Senga had no separate identity but were part of a larger group. Donald Fraser who visited part of Senga land in 1897 takes the view that the Senga are a composite tribe partly of Tumbuka and Partly of Bisa Origin. Angélique Ngoma
Angélique Ngoma is a Gabonese politician who served as Minister of Defence from October 2009 to January 2011. Career Ngoma was a national delegate of the Women's Union of the Gabonese Democratic Party. She served as Minister for Family, Child Welfare and Advancement of Women from 1999 until 2009. In October 2009, she was appointed Minister of Defence by President Ali Bongo Ondimba, one of the few ministers to be reappointed. Arthur Z'ahidi Ngoma
Arthur Z'ahidi Ngoma (18 September 1947 – 5 October 2016) was one of four vice-presidents in the transitional government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He was sworn in on 17 July 2003, and left office in December 2006. Ngoma was born in Kalima in the province of Maniema. He previously worked as a university lecturer and for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. He was imprisoned in 1997 and then went into exile for a brief period. Leonard Ngoma (born January 2, 1979) is a Zambian former swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke events. He attended Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, and later represented his homeland Zambia at the 2000 Summer Olympics. While studying in the United States, Ngoma played for the Wright State Raiders swimming and diving team at Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio, and trained with his partner and newly hired assistant coach Sion Brinn, a two-time Olympian (1996 and 2000) who held a dual citizenship to compete for Jamaica and Great Britain. Nompumelelo Ngoma
Nompumelelo Ngoma (born 1984) is a visual artist and printmaker. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art. In 2016, she received the Cassirer Welz Award. Biography Ngoma was born in Soweto, Jabulani in South Africa. Ngoma attended South West Gauteng College where she studied Fine Art. She completed a three-year printmaking program at the Artist Proof Studio and received an Honours degree in Visual Art from the University of Johannesburg in 2012.
