Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park, formerly Ngautngaut Conservation Park, is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia. it is on the Eastern bank of the Murray River downstream of the town of Nildottie. It is co-managed by the Government of South Australia and the Nganguraku people. The conservation park consists of land in sections 88, 89 and 413 in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Nildottie. The land first received protected area status as a conservation park proclaimed under the ''National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972'' on 17 June 1976 in respect to sections 88 and 89. Land in section 413 was added on 25 August 2005. Its name was changed from "Ngautngaut" to "Ngaut Ngaut" on 28 September 2006 to "reflect the accepted Aboriginal spelling of the rock shelter" after which the conservation park was named. Nildottie, South Australia
Nildottie is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the east side of the Murray River about east of the state capital of Adelaide and about north-east of the municipal seat in Mannum. Nildottie's boundaries were created on 27 March 2003 for the "long established name" and include the sites of the Kroehns Landing Shack Site and Scrubby Flat Shack Site. On 22 December 2011, Nildottie was enlarged by the addition of land on its northern side after the locality of Greenways Landing was abolished following a request from residents and local government. The name is derived from the Aboriginal word 'ngurltartang', which means 'smoke signal hill'. The 2016 Australian census which was conducted in August 2016 reports that Nildottie had 189 people living within its boundaries. The Nganguruku are an indigenous Australian people of the state of South Australia. Language The Nganguruku traditionally spoke a language similar to that of the Ngaiawang, but with significant dialect differences. The similarity has caused them to occasionally be confused or conflated with the latter tribe.
