Ngaio Marsh Theatre (TV Series)
''Ngaio Marsh Theatre'' was a 1977 television miniseries which adapted four of the author's Inspector Roderick Alleyn detective novels for New Zealand television. The British actor George Baker starred in the title role. The series adapted three Alleyn novels that were set in New Zealand ('' Vintage Murder'', ''Colour Scheme'', and ''Died in the Wool'') along with the London-set '' Opening Night''. The last mentioned featured a major character from New Zealand coming to England to work in the theatre. The series was originally screened on Television New Zealand. A later broadcast on PBS in the United States was the first American screening of a New Zealand television drama. Don Selwyn
Don Charles Selwyn (22 November 1935 – 13 April 2007) was a Māori actor and filmmaker from New Zealand. He was a founding member of the New Zealand Māori Theatre Trust and directed the 2002 film '' Te tangata whai rawa o Weneti (The Maori merchant of Venice)'', the first Māori language feature film with English subtitles. Life Born of Ngāti Kurī and Te Aupōuri descent, Selwyn grew up in Taumarunui and began his professional life as a teacher. In 1967 Selwyn acted in ''The Golden Lover'' at Downstage Theatre directed by Richard Campion alongside Wi Kuki Kaa and Bob Hirini. Also on stage produced by Downstage Theatre and directed by Campion and designed by Raymond Boyce, Selwyn was in ''Othello'' with a cast of 17 including Peter Vere-Jones and Elric Hooper in 1976. Ian Watkin
Ian Watkin (25 January 1940 – 18 May 2016) was a New Zealand actor known for the films ''Braindead'' and '' Sleeping Dogs''. Watkin grew up in Greymouth, and started his career in theatre and radio plays, and working as a magazine editor before emigrating to Australia in 1999 where he continued to appear in numerous television and theatre roles and also became a wine broker. He was also known as Mr. Big Cheese due to a television commercial in which he appeared. After having appeared in ''Pukemanu'', he featured in an episode of ''Ngaio Marsh Theatre'' in 1977. His later roles included '' Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones'' and ''Charlotte's Web'' in 2006. Death Ian Watkin died of cancer on 18 May 2016, aged 76. Terence Cooper (5 July 1933 – 16 September 1997) was a British film actor, best known for his roles in Australian and New Zealand television and film. Biography Born in 1933 at Carnmoney, a district of the modern-day borough of Newtownabbey in Northern Ireland, he became a stage actor and appeared in ITC British television series such as '' The Buccaneers'' and ''The Adventures of William Tell''. Cooper is most famous for appearing in the 1967 film, '' Casino Royale'', a James Bond satire based on Ian Fleming's first Bond novel of the same name. Producer Charles K.
