''Nexos'' is a cultural and political magazine in based in Mexico City, Mexico. History and profile ''Nexos'' was founded in 1978. The founders were a group of Intellectuals headed by Héctor Aguilar Camín. The magazine modeled on the ''New York Review of Books''. Since the establishment of the magazine a number of leading intellectuals among its writers and contributors, such as José Woldenberg and Wendy Guerra have edited it. The magazine is published on a monthly basis. The magazine has socialist political views, and is a representative of the left-wing cultural and literary establishments in the country. It supported militant actions to offer social justice and equality to the poor in the 1980s. However, since the leftist government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador took office in 2018 in Mexico, the director of Nexos, Hector Aguilar Camín, has created an alliance with right-wing political forces against López Obrador. Héctor Aguilar Camín
Héctor Aguilar Camín (born July 9, 1946) is a Mexican writer, journalist, and historian, director of ''Nexos'' magazine. ''Nexos'' was fined and banned for two years (2020-2022) from contracts with the Mexican Government (which had provided the magazine's funds) for illicit financing. This decision was later reversed by the Tribunal Federal de Justicia Administrativa (TFJA). Born in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Aguilar Camín graduated from the Ibero-American University with a bachelor's degree in information sciences and received a doctorate's degree in history from El Colegio de México. In 1986 he received Mexico's Cultural Journalism National Award and three years later he received a scholarship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation while working as a researcher for the National Institute of Anthropology and History. José Woldenberg
Isaac José Woldenberg Karakowski (born 8 September 1952) is a Mexican political scientist and sociologist who served as the first president of the Federal Electoral Institute and currently works as director of ''Nexos'' magazine. Early life Woldenberg was born in Monterrey into a jewish family that had immigrated from Eastern Europe. His father, originally from Poland, arrived to Veracruz at the age of two and lived a few years in San Luis Potosí while his mother had been born in the northern state of Chihuahua into a family originally from Lithuania. He graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with a bachelor's degree in Sociology (1975), a master's degree in Latin American Studies (1987) and began a doctorate in Political Science (1993-1995), but didn't complete it. Wendy Guerra (born 11 December 1970), formally Wendy Guerra Torres, is a Cuban poet and novelist, based in Miami. After a brief career acting in Cuban film and television, she turned to writing and won recognition more readily abroad than within Cuba. She has been described as "a kind of diva of contemporary Cuban literature". Three of her books have been published in Cuba: ''Platea a oscuras'' (poetry, Havana: Universidad de La Habana, 1987), ''Cabeza rapada'' (poetry. Andrés Manuel López Obrador (; born 13 November 1953), also known by his initials AMLO, is a Mexican politician who has been serving as the 65th president of Mexico since 1 December 2018. He previously served as Head of Government of Mexico City from 2000 to 2005.
