''Newyddion S4C'' (''S4C News'') is a Welsh-language news programme consisting of Welsh, UK, and international news, produced daily by BBC Cymru Wales and broadcast on S4C. Overview The main evening programme (branded ) is broadcast each weekday evening at 7:30pm with shorter editions airing throughout the day and at varying times on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Five-minute updates are broadcast at midday, mid-afternoon (2pm, 3pm) and evenings (8:55pm) Dewi Llwyd, who presented the programme for almost 30 years, was dropped from the presentation team in 2013. S4C weather forecasts are now broadcast in the news programme after BBC Cymru Wales moved into its new headquarters in Central Square, Cardiff. Dewi Llwyd
Dewi Llwyd (born 1954) is a Welsh journalist and television presenter who is best known for his work for S4C. He presented the Welsh-language news programme ''Newyddion'' until the end of 2012, and Pawb a'i Farn until the end of 2019. Llwyd currently presents two radio programmes on BBC Radio Cymru. Biography Early life He was born Dewi Llwyd Williams in 1954. Llwyd is the son of the Rev. Ivor Ll. Williams, a Baptist minister and Mary. He grew up in Deiniolen and Morriston before his family settled in Bangor, Gwynedd before he reached the age of six. He went to St Pauls Primary School, before attending Friars School. Llwyd went to study at Cardiff University; he further studied in London, and later went to an education facility in Washington, D.C. He later spent time in education in France and Spain. S4C (, ''Sianel Pedwar Cymru'', meaning ''Channel Four Wales'') is a Welsh language free-to-air Public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom, public broadcast television channel. Launched on 1 November 1982, it was the first television channel to be aimed specifically at a Welsh-speaking audience. S4C's headquarters are based in Carmarthen, at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David's creative and digital centre, Yr Egin. It also has regional offices in Caernarfon and Cardiff. Overview Originally broadcast three times a week for 15 minutes (except during school summer holidays), was later broadcast live for four and a half minutes every weekday afternoon throughout the year at 4:50pm, from the BBC's Broadcasting House in Llandaff, Cardiff. The programme was transmitted from Studio C2, the second largest studio in Broadcasting House. Following a relaunch in Spring 2012, broadcast as part of S4C's strand on Mondays to Fridays from a smaller presentation studio at 5:00pm during term-time. BBC Cymru Wales New Broadcasting House
BBC Cymru Wales New Broadcasting House (), previously known as the BBC Cymru Wales Headquarters building, is the headquarters of BBC Cymru Wales in Central Square, Cardiff. It operates many of its broadcasting services (radio and TV) from there using IP-based studios. It also serves as a base for S4C. The £120 million building replaced the BBC Cymru Wales Broadcasting House in Llandaff, when 1,000 production and support staff began moving into the new facility in October 2019. The building is officially located at 3 Central Square, but has also been referred to as BBC New Broadcasting House. ''BBC Wales Today'' is the BBC's national television news programme for Wales, broadcast on BBC One Wales from the headquarters of BBC Cymru Wales in Central Square, Cardiff.
