Newton Dale Halt Railway Station
Newton Dale Halt railway station is a request stop on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and serves as a stopping off point for walkers around Newton Dale and Cropton Forest in the North York Moors National Park, North Yorkshire, England. When the station was opened, the station signs were written as ''Newtondale Halt''. The halt was built by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway using materials from Warrenby Halt, near Redcar. The halt was a new construction that was a joint enterprise between the NYMR, the Forestry Commission and the North York Moors National Park Authority. The station was opened in 1981 near to the former Newtondale signal box that had last been used in 1930 and was demolished by the NYMR in 1995 due to it being unsafe. There is no road access to Newton Dale Halt and it is a request stop. North Eastern Railway (UK)
The North Eastern Railway (NER) was an English railway company. It was incorporated in 1854 by the combination of several existing railway companies. Later, it was amalgamated with other railways to form the London and North Eastern Railway at the Grouping in 1923. Its main line survives to the present day as part of the East Coast Main Line between London and Edinburgh. Unlike many other pre-Grouping companies the NER had a relatively compact territory, in which it had a near monopoly. That district extended through Yorkshire, County Durham and Northumberland, with outposts in Westmorland and Cumberland. Goathland railway station is a station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and serves the village of Goathland in the North York Moors National Park, North Yorkshire, England. The Malton and Driffield Junction Railway, later known as the ''Malton and Driffield branch'' was a railway line in Yorkshire that ran between the towns of Malton, North Yorkshire and Driffield in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The line opened on 13 April 1853. It became part of the North Eastern Railway (1854), then London and North Eastern Railway (1923), becoming part of British Railways in 1948. Sledmere and Fimber railway station was a railway station on the Malton & Driffield Railway in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. History The station opened on 19 May 1853 and was sited between the villages of Sledmere and Fimber. It was closed to passengers on 5 June 1950 but remained open for goods traffic until 18 October 1958. The station was named "Fimber" until March 1858, when it briefly became "Sledmere" until May 1859, when it became "Sledmere and Fimber" until final closure of the line. Cropton Forest
Cropton is a village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is on the border of the North York Moors National Park, north-west of Pickering. History The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book as having three ploughlands, but it does not list any inhabitants. Warrenby Halt Railway Station
Warrenby Halt was a railway station opened in 1920 having been built to serve the village of Warrenby in Redcar and Cleveland, England and the nearby Dorman Long works. It consisted of wooden platforms and brick-built shelters and was gas-lit. In 1978 the railway was diverted to allow for the building of the Redcar steelworks, leaving Warrenby bypassed.
