Newport Harbor Yacht Club is a yacht club located on the Balboa Peninsula, Newport Beach, Balboa Peninsula, which is a neighborhood of the city of Newport Beach, Orange County, California. Facilities The Newport Harbor Yacht Club facility has a main dining room and outdoor seating, a private beach, and a pavilion equipped with a barbecue and snack bar. There are mooring cans, plus both wet and dry slips available for members and guests. The wet slips can accommodate boats up to 55 feet in length, and the dry slips are for smaller boats up to 25 feet in length. The club is open 5 days a week, plus a full-time dock staff and shore boat. The club has applied for a building permit to replace their 1919 clubhouse with a larger, modern building. The Balboa Peninsula (also referred to as "Balboa" or "the Peninsula") is a neighborhood of the city of Newport Beach, Orange County, California. The Finn dinghy is a single-handed, cat-rigged sailboat, and a former Olympic class for men's sailing. Since its debut at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, the Finn has featured in every summer Olympics, making it the longest serving dinghy in the Olympic Regatta and one of the most prolific Olympic sailboats, currently filling the slot for the Heavyweight Dinghy. The Finn is a physically demanding boat to race at the highest levels, especially since the class rules now allow unlimited boat rocking and sail pumping when the wind is above 10 knots. The Sabot is a sailing dinghy that is sailed and raced singlehandedly usually by young sailors in various parts of the world. The boat is suitable for amateur production. Early models were usually made from plywood. More recent models have been made from fiberglass. The Harbor 20 is an American Trailer sailer, trailerable sailboat that was designed by W. D. Schock Corp's Steve Schock as a day sailer and one design Sailing (sport), club racer. It was first built in 1997. The boat was developed into the larger Harbor 25 in 2007. Production The design has been built by W. D. Schock Corp in California, United States, since 1997 and remains in production. More than 300 boats had been completed by 2014. A Florida-based company, Enviro-Holdings, LLC, operating under the trade name of One Design Composites signed a multi-year contract with W. D. Schock Corp in December 2018 to build the Harbor 20.
